But doesn't it sound fishy to anyone that ND (which basically sucks) passed on a top 40 player. Something more is going on here which we don't know about, and we can speculate forever and never know.
They didn’t “pass”…Pfleuger and Coleman were for 1 spot and Pfleuger pulled the trigger. Just like Monte Morris and Derrick Walton.

And Duncan Robinson and Jalen Coleman
Slight difference being that ND only had that 1 scholarship and had no choice but “to pull the plug”
I’ll let it go and hope UM finds a playmaker come 2015.

Seems a little repetitive for him. Were there any other teams where Coleman found himself in that same situation? I’m sure there was since it’s ridiculous a Top 40 guy ends up with a final list of schools like he had.
At some point it becomes his own mistake, he doesn’t learn after each experience, and basically ends up with the team that still has room for him, rather than the best fit for him.
But hey, I’m excited to see Coleman and Robinson battling it up in 2015/2016. We will finally be able to compare objectively their talent and what they provide to their teams at that point (surely they will both evolve by then).

A lot of people on this forum are in for a surprise. Illinois has a bright future.
RE: Illinois… I saw a stat that they’ll have 8 top-100 players on the roster… Will be interesting to see what Groce can do with that talent. Also interesting that they’ve missed out on a lot of their bigger targets if I’m not mistaken. Elijah Thomas would be a gamechanger, he was on campus with Coleman.

Only there were 2 spots in the Robinson/Coleman scenario

Juwan Evans, Jamal Murray and Carlton Bragg also in play.
Do you want an award or some kind of press release for that guestavo? Just another instance trying to act like your opinion matters more than anyone else's
I’ll take an award. Loved Dozier from the first time I saw him and then after the first video since he came back from injury. Here is a kid who can take one step, jump off two feet, and dunk with ease, get to the rim, score from multiple spots, see the floor, share the ball, etc., etc. I think he could be like a 6’6" more athletic Trey Burke. Underrated IMO no matter where he is ranked. Getting him would be huge. But get your hopes up at your own risk. By no means am I expecting to get him, but am hopeful we can.

That stat surprises me. It seems like they keep missing on all the top instate guys but maybe it just seems that way because of a few high profile misses. Good for them in landing Coleman.
"Like when?
I find it funny you are trying to educate me on Dozier when me and @geoffclarke have been the only posters consistently mentioning him the past year"
Wasn’t talking to you Guestavo. And you haven’t been the only posters mentioning Dozier lol.
Me and Geoff. I don’t remember anyone, besides Hail, ever mentioning him before he made his top 5.

Am I the only Hail here?
It appears you brought up PJ a few times before last season.
I agree, I just don’t think Izzo makes good use of guys like that. I am a bit surprised we didn’t get back in the mix with McQuaid after he started playing much better in AAU ball. I guess perhaps we like Towns and the 2016 wing recruits better - but now you have to land one of those guys, or Dozier.
I’ll say this in MSU’s defense, I’d rather have redudant “Just a shooter” types that are athletic as opposed to non-athletic. I think you’re selling McQuad short with the Byrd comparison, a better athlete in almost every facet. Not a huge fan of McQuaid by any stretch, but he is an above average athlete.
They would be much tougher to deal with if Izzo was any good at coaching offense. If they can’t win big starting four McDonalds All Americans (Appling, Payne, Dawson and Harris), three of whom were upperclassmen, this group doesn’t concern me. McQuaid will be Russell Byrd, part two - he won’t play much because his defense won’t be up to Izzo’s standards. That’s my prediction. IMO, they will be good with these guys (as in top 20-25 good) but not close to elite.
Yeah very redundant if you ask me. I like McQuaid more than Ahrens and they are slightly different players but it will be interesting to see how they turn out since Michigan never offered either one but both had serious interest
