Gobert had a solid stretch there in the 2Q, his only time out there. Germany’s offense just got completely shut down in that quarter. Credit to France. Germany really struggles when Dennis is out cause Franz just isn’t quite there as a main guy against a defense like this

Didn’t have Wemby being pretty meh and France making all of their 2s on my bingo card. Yabusele getting freed up bc Germany is respecting Wemby as a spacer. Not sure that’s wise.
Franz and Schroeder not making theirs and that’s why this is a thing. Wemby making an impact there for sure.

Wemby truly makes a difference defensively. Forcing numerous tough shots on top of those highlight blocks he’s thrown up there. He may not hit his 3s, but man, he is something.
On Germany’s side, the substitution pattern seems odd. Franz has been out way more than I thought for a chance to play for gold.

I feel like they’ve struggled when only one is on the floor - when it’s just Schroeder out there, he’s had a hard time carrying them also.

I think he’s basically the story, aside from France’s just enough offense? Wemby near the rim wipes out Franz and Schroeder and actually they just don’t really have anything else. Def not what happened first time around.
Germany has settled into just chucking up 3s and crashing the boards and honestly not a bad idea at this point
I really don’t think France has the juice offensively to remotely threaten the US. Maybe the home crowd will just make that much of a difference and/or they get insanely hot from 3 but I don’t see it

Refs have been pretty useful for France all tourney. Feel like this has been a real bruiser of a game and that plays in France’s favor.
