Good game for Duncan tonight. Will JP join him?
Find it funny that Michigan bball account knows the only two relevant statistics for Duncan
Lol Ayton is going to sit an elimination game with a bruised rib, chefs kiss
You are under the impression he should play with that?
Wild to me Tyrese Maxey was drafted as low as he was, I know he’s small but he’s just good
If he has one? No.
But he did keep playing after sustaining the injury, was criticized by his teammates for not defending, then left the huddle down the stretch to go sulk (after refusing to go back on the floor at the end of the playoffs last season). He’s got a track record.
Tatum really came to play tonight. Elimination game and he’s 1/13 with 3 points
I very much wanted the Pistons to take him with the Stewart and the Bey picks. Had two chances at him
At least with Ivey they have a better version of the same guy (well not better at this moment but I think will get there)
At the start of the year I’d have had Poole, Herro, Maxey, Anfernee Simmons (maybe some others?) in the same group
Maxey being a plus player in high stakes high level games is a pretty serious separation point
Tatum trying to salvage the narrative here in the 4th
another truly disgusting choke by Docaroni “Doc” Rivers
Doc Rivers has now lost 8 straight games in which his team has had a chance to advance to the conference finals.
Jokic has been the best player in the playoffs so far
Also embarrassing effort by the suns. They did the same thing last year in game 7 at home vs the Mavs
Nuggets up by 30, jokic on one of the great playoff runs in history, just crazy numbers
Their owner is worried about paying college players.
This round, we’ve seen fans in Philly, Boston, and now Phoenix boo their team. Even if they’re losing, they’re in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
I just don’t get that.
Philly and Phoenix gonna swap coaches this off season
They were saying boourns
I think there is a pretty good argument that “counting on Chris Paul to any degree in the playoffs” is the definition of insanity (doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results (constantly missing games or at least minutes or at least QUALITY minutes due to injury)), and while acquiring him made a ton of sense (he pretty much taught this core (much of which is gone now!) how to win, and raised the floor of the team SIGNIFICANTLY, he’s not a championship caliber player at this point, especially since you need another starting caliber PG on the roster to cover for his infirmities, setting aside that his quality of play has dropped too.
But this team’s depth just got absolutely gutted with the Durant trade to the point that I question if it was worth it (especially if you look and see what Bridges did in Brooklyn post-trade). The non Booker/Durant/Ayton (more on him later) minutes are Cam Payne (maybe a league average backup PG, but since he often needs to play starter minutes, below par), Josh Okogie (1 way defense guy), Landry Shamet (1 one offensive player who isn’t even that good at offense), Torey Craig (1 way defense guy), TJ Warren (in theory 1 way offense guy, right now a 0 way player), Bismack Biyombo (1 way defense guy), Terrence Ross (1 way offense guy), then Damion Lee and Jock Landale (0 way guys). That’s just never going to work, even if Durant is playing at his peak standards, which he didn’t.
I’m sure there are things Williams could have done better, but this is really flawed roster that I think is sort of existentially flawed, never mind that Paul and Ayton are waaaayyy overpaid (part of the existential flaw).
This team won 2 narrow games where Durant and Booker combined for 62% from the floor and scored 158 points on 93 shots. If that’s the standard they need to win games against good dialed in teams, they’re just drawing dead.
I had heard that you can’t win in the playoffs with Jokic as your best player because of his defensive limitations.
