He takes that shot all the time

I’d rather he shoot it wide open than dribble four feet closer into a contest

Yeah, maybe one dribble to make it 26 instead of 28 but that’s the league these days, and it’s not like he hasn’t nailed that shot…probably even in that game.

But, where is this clip from? Is this an ESPN thing? It seems very ManningCast to me, but maybe even with more exaggerated reactions.

Yeah I don’t think it was a bad shot necessarily, but it just reminded me of Beilein saying how they were trying to get him to shoot right behind the line instead of 3 feet behind it, iirc.

Yup, I agree with it. Poole has made this shot several times. He didn’t deserve to get clowned for it

I was also surprised by the amount of flak Poole was getting for that shot this morning. Probably should’ve/could’ve positioned himself closer to the 3pt line, but didn’t think it was that bad all things considered. Especially given he was hot all night.

They do it on Twitter live during some games. Taylor Rooks, Channing Frye and a guest player.

I didn’t think the shot was THAT bad, but this made me laugh:

DAMN. Truthy enough to be really funny.

I can’t handle this Starry ad

My eye still twitches when I hear “DiVincenzo for three”

Is there a more annoying player than Marcus Smart? He’s flopped 5 times since I’ve turned on this game.

And nobody flops more than Joel Embiid and James Harden.

While I think refereeing could be better, the last 15 or so years the soccerization of the league with all the flopping and self-induced neck-jerking, has made their jobs more difficult than ever.

Could adding a 4th referee help? Maybe. I think going from 2 to 3 back around 1990 made a difference. But maybe 3 and replay is fine. Possibly adding stiffer penalties for faked contact would work? Like games get reviewed afterwards and players/teams get fined for obvious floppery.

I think the head-jerk may be something teams practice. It’s becoming almost automatic that any time when a player with the ball gets slightly bumped (or, occasionally, not bumped at all), they jerk their head back.

It’s not fun to watch.

Head jerk has to be practiced. It is not natural. I don’t know one person who ever did that when we hooped and I played with a lot of D1 guys. I can’t imagine the mental gymnastics I’d have to do to learn that behavior.

after game reviews could be a good fix, it could issue warnings to player who flopped, with automatic suspension and fine on accumulated warnings. The fine can subsidize the cost of such review.

I know not everyone may like this idea but I think that an AI in-game review could be useful too, if a reliable one could be developed eventually. It takes out human emotions, gives no benefit to stars over other players, and should be more consistent from games to games.

I’ve noticed Harden flops less than he used to. And I think some part of Embiid falling all the time is because he’s had so many leg injuries.

Right now, Trae Young (on offense) and Smart (on defense) are the ones I see flopping the most. I would rather they levy fines for that instead of for arguing with refs.

Joel Embiid flops 5 or 6 times a game as well.

I think there is a difference between acting in a manner that calls attention to a found committed against you and the foul seeking we used to see with Harden on the rip through or Trae Young

Trying to get an actual foul called versus creating one from thin air

Embiid definitely does the latter as well

I liked Embiid’s pregame moment with his son. My son is nearly here. I am excited to put him on my shoulders during my MVP acceptance speech.
