Apparently Mike Budenholzer’s brother died in a car wreck after game 2 of that series against the Heat
Mattem can’t let Duncan hate go
checks boxscore
Like Duncan is 0/5 sure
But he’s played 12 minutes (they also aren’t leaving him any more wide open than they’ve left Kevin Love and Kyle Lowry, who have 5 threes between them, Gabe Vincent is 5/12) and the Heat are up double digits
And Butler has 25 on 15 shots
So like if you want to center just on hating Robinson that’s fine but the context being missed (the Knicks are leaving Heat shooters to crash Butler, not Robinson specifically, and this strategy is mostly a failure) is pretty big
The strategy was “keep Jimmy to a normal pretty good game and make the others beat us” - and they did.
“Guy that got $100M for playing well in the NBA Finals didn’t shoot well today in a playoff road win…I WAS RIGHT I TOLD YOU HE WASNT A TAKE AT MICHIGAN”
The funnier part is that literally the tweet earlier than this one, which decries the use of “one way shooters”, made twenty minutes earlier, songs the praises of KEVIN LOVE, who took 5 times as many threes as two this year, and is hardly known for defense.
To be clear: Duncan Robinson was bad this year. That’s not because he was a one way shooter. It’s because he FAILED to be a one-way shooter (ie, he didn’t shoot well)
Some dudes can barely remember the predicate of their current sentence let alone what they tweeted 5 min ago
Curry having a monster game 7
Was a really fun game and then the Kings just got knocked tf out. Giving up a bajillion OREBs not the way I thought that would go
not to state the obvious but what a worst-case scenario ending for Sacramento. simply demolished on your home court in front of 20 year starved fans
But at least you got to see a top 10 player put on a vintage performance
I think if I were a kings fan I’d feel pretty good
They went from hot garbage to taking the champs to game 7 in 11 months and other than Harrison Barnes don’t have a rotation piece older than 26
I don’t see these guys as a title contender but I think fans will get competent competitive hoops in a super fun style for a few years
That was a fun, strange 3rd quarter. I enjoyed seeing both teams respond to the lid on the basket
Warriors gameplan was to make Sabonis work hard while covering everyone else 1:1. It worked for the most part. Looney dominated the board which is a disaster for the Kings because they need Sabonis to get boards and he couldn’t do it in the same rate that Looney is pulling down.
Harrison Barnes showed why he’s no longer a GSW with a no show on game 7 (yes it helps that they have the cap space to go after KD but still).
As a Pacers fan, felt like a very familiar Sabonis playoff game.
They really need another star. Sabonis is good but he’s kind of a one-trick pony (and he’s very good at it).
Plus some of the Kings players are tired from having to chase Steph and Klay on defense. That’s why you need to finish GSW off early or you’re going to get tired over time. That’s how they get you.
Good bye my sweet prince.
‘Kaaaangz’ meme slowly walks off into the night
ROUND TWO: Who you got?
Nuggets - Suns: This should be a fun one. Nice to see a fully healthy Nuggets.
Warriors - Lakers: Another fun one. Lebron’s last matchup with the Warriors?
Heat - Knicks: Probably competitive and a nice historic matchup.
76ers - Celtics: Guess it depends on Embiid’s health.
I’m guessing Nuggets-Celtics in the finals.
I’m going Nuggets, Warriors, Heat (depends on Butler’s ankle), and Celtics. Amazing how teams like Heat, Warriors, and even Lakers can just turn it on in the postseason
Nuggets bc Suns won’t have an answer for Jokic and Suns depth is bad beyond KD and Book.
Warriors bc I think they’re a better team than the LAL.
Heat bc Himmy Butler will take NYK by himself
Celtics bc they’re a better team than Sixers especially if Embiid isn’t 100%.
