wait, am i interpreting this wrong? 80 points, like from 90% to 10%? or are you talking like, from .870 to .790? do i not understand math
I do not have Giannis stats handy, so I cannot cherry pick where he was worse as opposed to other years, but he claimed in an interview that his stats were better this year, than his MVP years.
Now, I am not arguing what he was able, or not able to do in this game, despite the fact he scored 38 points. Instead I am giving full credit to Spo for having the right strategy to defend him. It is not a coincidence that he attempted 23 free throws and caused 3 players to foul-out. Spo was willing to live with him shooting free-throws and that was the right strategy. He employed a well known blue print to defend him, unlike Bud who ignored Jimmy.
I think the Lopez thing is somewhat to do with the fact Bud has gone small down the stretch for years
Their title year they closed with Giannis at C and PJ at the 4
Letting PJ go to Miami was a very bad move and theoretically Crowder was acquired to fill that void, but was obviously not capable of it
It’s been a while but was this the play Beilein ran for GR3 against Purdue?

EDIT: Found it. Kinda similar but the circle cut was counter clockwise instead:
love a counterclockwise swirl
man that butler play is a pretty bad pushoff lol
Giannis’ entire response here, not just the pull quote, is really good. I liked this the best:
Every—every year you work, work towards something, towards a goal, try to—which is to get a promotion, to be able to, uh, take care of your family, to be able, I dunno, um, provide a house for them or take care of your parents. You work towards a goal, it’s not a failure, it’s steps to success. There’s no failure in sports. You know, there’s good days, bad days; some days—some days you are able to be successful, some days you’re not. Some days it’s your turn, some days it’s not your turn. And that’s what sports about. You don’t always win. Some other—other people’s gonna win, and this year somebody else is gonna win. Simple as that. We’re gonna come back next year, try to be better, try to build good habits, try to um, play better, not have a 10-day stretch with ah, playing bad basketball, you know and hopefully we can win a championship.
Pretty sure that’s the same quote from the video right? Didn’t mean to emphasize the tweet text, just was posting the video of his answer which I thought was interesting.
It is! I was encouraging people to listen to the video, not stop at the quote in the tweet
Gotcha, I didn’t look at the text on the tweet and can see it doesn’t really jive with the video.
Imagine a superstar being this mentally healthy. Crazy!
yeah i shared that Giannis video even w friends of mine i know don’t care about sports (no for real i have those) just bc he’s that compelling imo. the reporter, Nehm, iirc is a longtime Bucks beat guy who i’m sure has asked Giannis a million Q’s at this point.
Meanwhile, Jimmy brings the dawg to pressers
what i wanna know is, did the reporter have the guts to ask that gettysburg address-length question again, just with the day fixed, or did he let jimmy mercy-kill it and move on to another question?
If I were the reporter, I think I would have quietly packed up my things and considered seppuku in shame
Good to see Kevin Huerter fulfilling his destiny as a headband guy
Trying to figure out how much this is Malik Monk suddenly being a constant threat on the rim and how much this is him being guarded by Jordan Poole
(I looked, he did shoot 22% of his shots at the rim at shot 68%, both pretty good, but this series he more drives per game than Giannis)
kenneth lofton jr. getting some big minutes here!
edit: and david roddy!
Rather poetic that the Lakers closed out the Grizzlies by exactly 40.
