Houston getting a 5-Seed is brutal. Their resume is in line with that, but KenPom has them #2 overall

If they can make the other team shoot 18% and grab their rebounds, why shoot more than you have to?

Their rebounding ability is truly awe-inspiring and rage inducing at the same time. I’d hate playing against them.

Last I checked they’re 2 on Kenpom

They’re such a weird team though because their best two players are injured, but have been for most the season. But still they have those metrics.

This whole region is crazily seeded. I thought TN was underseeded, Illinois is a tough 4 and AZ is, what, the #2 overall?

Every trip down the court, Curbelo flips a coin that has two sides - one is Sportscenter Top 10 Play, the other side is Sportscenter Not Top 10 Play.

I thought we outplayed OSU for large stretches of the game in Ann Arbor. Shots just weren’t falling. I feel pretty confident about saying OSU is the better opponent to play. One is KenPom number 12 team, the other has a worse KenPom than Michigan at 30th. I know matchups are more than KenPom ranking but Nova has the number 8 offense and 30 defense vs 13 and 104 for OSU. As pointed out Wright is a much better tournament coach than Holtmann has shown so far. A bunch of people at 11 Warriors were openly pushing for him to get fired after Michigan beat them.

Villanovas worst loss was to Marquette, another tourney team. Ohio state has lost to Florida, Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State and Nebraska. More importantly we know for a fact that we can beat Ohio State, in a hostile environment none the less.

For me making the Sweet 16 is an incredible turnaround from how I was feeling 10 days ago. If I’m accepting that everything after today is gravy and I’m trying to limit the emotional impact of losing, fine give me Villanova. Doesn’t mean we can’t beat Nova but it seems less likely. If im hoping to see my team in the Elite 8 for the second year in a row and 3rd time in the last 4 tournaments, you have to hope for Ohio State imo.

And you’ve got the toughest 11 seed

Most of those games without Kyle Young. In the past two years, have we defeated OSU with Kyle Young playing? I don’t think we have.

Nice line up of Big Ten games today, Illinois, OSU, MSU, Wisconsin, and Purdue. I predict 2-3 record.

Wow, that fastbreak layup. The guy just glided.

He played against Nebraska (albeit 8 mins due to getting hurt), Maryland and Rutgers at the very least looking at his recent game log.

Edit: Indiana and Florida losses as well

He played @ OSU last year I think

This is a brutal matchup for Curbelo.

All I’m saying is they need to make baskets for it to work. If Houston is dependent on holding Illinois to shoot less than 20% from the field, it’s a narrow margin for victory.

Houston has improved their FG % above 30 since I made my initial comment. It was <20% earlier

Yup. I wonder if there’s a product that either works elegantly or malfunctions.

Curbelo should get that endorsement deal.

Maybe stop running your offense through Hawkins, Illinois.

I regret that I have only one like to give – The Cornballer as a metaphor for Curbelo is chef’s kiss.

Oh wow, he did. My bad.

Fair enough, my mistake. Misremembered entirely.
