I would be genuinely shocked if msu beat Duke. They haven’t beaten a team that good in a while
Zero chance. Izzo’s black magic has run out, what’s left is a withered carcass of a program.
KenPom gives both Michigan and MSU 28% chances in their respective games.
I would take a Duke loss if it meant a Michigan victory.
I would take a Duke loss just because
My wife is out here chanting go badgers because she knows it’ll get under my skin (while wearing a Michigan hoodie!). I’m drafting papers.
As somebody pointed out earlier, the nice thing is that one of them has to lose.
I just hope I still care about the tournament after about 8 PM tomorrow.
It’s a wildly talented Duke team that’s never really hit its stride and I think could easily miss a lot of 3’s given the chance. The spread is gonna be 7-10 tho so they still prob lose but there’s a way forward I think.
Oh yeah that’s the most important thing. Don’t care who wins as long as Michigan is one of the teams doing the winning. Going to be tough but we have a puncher’s chance.
Interesting. I think Duke is going to smack them down. Not sure if they can beat texas tech if they match up though. Seems like a game Duke might have trouble with. Who knows though, maybe Duke finally lives up to their potential and goes deep.
I’d rather Michigan win and Iowa state and Duke but ymmv
It really was. However, it did set up a lot of really good games on Sunday.
We got LSU as a, what, 8 seed last year? And although they didn’t play a lick of defense, that was a MUCH better team than this year’s 6 seed version.
I know tomorrow would be a pretty unlikely win but kind of crazy that we may be 1 game away from playing Ohio State in the tourney. And 2 games from playing Illinois. We’ve played them both in the tourney before but I wasn’t a fan at that point in my life yet. Would be a pretty cool thing to see.
Heck yeah. Extend the Sweet 16 streak and the rest is gravy. Considering what this team has gone through…
Of course, I reserve the right to be devastated with the results no matter how far they advance.
Could not be more different. As pretty strong evidence, remember everyone picked that LSU team to upset us.
And they knew it was an interim situation and a mess when they gifted them that bogus 6 for their bracket.
OSU’s matchup is nearly as tough as Michigan’s. A Sweet 16 game against them would be fun, though; if both teams are at full strength, I like Michigan’s chances against OSU a lot more than I like them against Villanova.
And if the halftime score happened to be 42-27, I think they’d have to call the game, as we’d all have rushed the court.
If Duke let’s them hang around, that’s the path.
This msu team all year was barely favored in various games.
They’d fall beyond. Work their way back. And pull ahead with 5 minutes left.
That was some vintage Izzo defense out there down the stretch. But against a #10 seed.
That is the one thing that been missing from all of michigan’s tournament runs of recent times: a conference matchup. I’ve never seen it either.
Seems like in a lot of the runs in the 80s and 90s it happened.
