Yes — once the matchups are obvious, or close enough to it. If Kansas were in danger of being upset, they might have delayed a bit. That’s all I really meant.

Thats why I had no faith in them to make a run depsite liking some of their players. I watched a few games where they couldn’t hit a bucket from the outside and really struggled with spacing.
Considering they went 26-8 this seems pretty foolish and ignorant on his part.

I don’t think that. You can have tons of talent and run a terrible offense and jimmy’s and joes > X’s and O’s. I don’t know enough about basketball to comment specifically but it doesn’t strike me as crazy that some of these older coaches (Izzo also comes to mind) run archaic offenses. Doesnt always mean they aren’t successful because they get the best players, but Kentucky vastly underachieves given their talent. This could be a part of it.

I think you can have less than ideal schematics and still have a very successful overall record.

Cal has never really been known for his offensive genius. He’s an excellent recruiter, he develops his young/raw players throughout the year, and they play good defense. Much of what has made them good over the years is letting the elite athleticism and individual talent cook. The play in that clip seemed more ad-hoc than scripted sets. There is plenty to be critical of, but that clip in a vacuum probably isn’t much of an example.

I dunno, this season has gotten me to appreciate the Ks and Caliparis of the world slightly more (and the Fab Five and Belein’s 2013 team, of course). Unless you hit on the right blue chip freshman (Ie Banchero, Holmgren, Cunningham), you’re climbing up a hill having to work with freshman in your roster. Freshman suck. and recruiting the right freshman that will stick around for you to build a team around is hard.
Haha, Cal has chosen his path and zero part of me appreciates anything about him. He can manage his soap opera every year and then whine about not being experienced enough after a humiliating loss. Music to my ears.

I thought his point was you can’t be successful doing that. They went 26-8. Cherry picking that one play is lazy and doesn’t really make sense.

This year his roster was actually quite experienced with a bunch of transfers in the rotation.

Absolutely. Multiple non-freshman and guys that have played a lot of basketball already. Even less of an excuse to lay an egg.
At halftime he cited the lack of tournament experience hurting his guys. Everything he does is a major eye roll from me every time.
Tennessee looks to me like last years Baylor’s squad in terms of roster composition…anyone else feel that way? Chandler, Vescovi, Ziegler as your guards (all smaller than 6 3), James as the wing (6 6), and Fulkerson/Plavsic as the bigs (6 9 and 7 0). Fulkerson takes 2/3 minutes almost.

This is one of the great feelings as a sports fan. Your team has advanced and you can take pleasure in all of your rivals suffering if they lose.
I don’t care what happens against Tennessee. I’ll enjoy today and the early games tomorrow.

Yeah I am fully expecting the WLWLWLWL to keep on going but thats ok, we won our last game and get to enjoy a bit of March Madness. If we lose to a very highly regarded 3 seed, well then, thats understandable. And if we win, we all get to go nuts.

To me, it’s like we got the 10 seed (CSU was like a 7 seed in my eyes) and Tennessee is the 2 seed.

Really like OSU today with news Kyle Young and Zed Key are playing. Also having something to prove after being upset last yr makes me think theyre gonna get it done.
