2022 NCAA Tournament Open Thread

Oh yeah, right, forgot they were playing the J*yhawks. Still, can’t root for either team here.

I get that. Miami has never made a Final Four, so I can pull for that over Kansas.

To clear up the eternal hypocrites comment, just look at some of Coach K’s quotes about paying players through the years. Hypocrite to the T.

…and Illinois also!

I didn’t see a lot of St. Peter’s , I’m watching replays. This team is really good.

They got hot from deep versus kentucky but they certainly weren’t outclassed in many facets of the game….

Kentucky didn’t even really play bad. St. Peter’s just played better.

Then they took it to Murray st….,

They have amazing spacing, numerous guys who can hurt you and shoot, their passing is elite…. They have a an athletic wing who looks like hes a high major player. They got a few big athletic guys who know how to move and finish actually.

They’re an interesting team. None of their wins looked like the other team just completely wet the bed. They just made more plays.

Yeah they just completely short-circuited the #1 and #6 offenses in the country.

I’m not sure their offense is any good, but they’ve shown they can make enough shots to hang in with their defense playing at this level.

Then every time they came to the line late , they just cashed free throws. I had no doubt they were going to hit both everytime

Their offense is pretty good imo. They get great looks consistently. They’re spacing is great, they pass really well, they have great handle.

Multiple guys can shoot and have decent floaters.

Some low seed wins you feel like they could never do it again. I’m not saying they could beat all these teams again but I feel like they’d be good games.

Maybe they’ve just gotten hot? Their numbers are pretty terrible on the year. I’m surprised watching them that their offense was terrible.

Yeah, just a very sound team that flat out played better than their opponents, which is why, knock on wood, I think they have a real shot of beating this UNC team.

Yeah if you look at their game-scores on Torvik, they are clearly a much better team
In their past 10-12 games than in the middle of the season, and better in the middle than they were early.

They’ve certainly beat (in non-flukey ways) at least 2 better teams than UNC, so it’s hard to count them out.

I love the Peas more than I have loved any Cinderella in a long time. Much of this love comes from projecting wins against UNC and then against Duke and then against Kansas. What a story it would be.

Watching this Kansas game and just not sure they have what it takes to beat a Coach K in his last year Duke team. It’s “anybody but Duke” time and I think I’d take them vs the field. Dire times

Miami has impressed me this tournament. How were they only a 10 seed?

They had fairly unimpressive advanced stats: going into the NCAA Tournament they were 62 in NET and KenPom. 9-7 versus Q1/Q2 but three Q3 losses and 14 of their 21 wins were Q3/Q4.

Had the ACC been better in the regular season they probably would’ve been a 5 or 6 with the same record (23-10, 14-6).

Yikes, I missed that this game was even on. Figured they’d be the same times as yesterday.

Kansas trying to outdo Michigan’s abysmal FT shooting from the other night. Currently 4/12 from the line.

Tbis Charlie Moore guy on Miami interestingly has a nearly identical career to Jalen Coleman Lands

They were even teammates on the '19-'20 DePaul squad.

Yeah that’s what really caps it off - teammates at DePaul and both played - at some point - for Kansas
