Makes sense to me
Crazy that a team as talented as Illinois is hoping to win two NCAA games in the 50s.
FWIW, the American was a tad weaker than usual this year. They did have Virginia and Oregon, two teams who you’d expect to be high tier games and didn’t end up there, along with Wisconsin, Alabama, and OK State in the nonCon. Plus Butler. I think he scheduled fine, it just turned out kinda crappy.
It’s amazing how much disdain I have built up for Illinois fans in the past two seasons. Happy to see them go home in the first weekend again and I am generally, besides MSU and OSU, an always root for the B1G in the tourney type.
The major weakness for Houston is that they have no bench due to injuries so fouls are a problem for them if a game is called too tightly.
Last year, they were a 2 seed, and they beat a 15, a 10 (Rutgers upset Clemson – and, if you remember that game, should have beaten Houston also), an 11 (Syracuse), and a 12 (Oregon State).
They’ve been as if not more toxic towards us than MSU fans, and that’s saying something.
Soon I won’t root for any big ten teams. The hate list keeps growing by the year. Illinois was added last year. Wisconsin added this year. Who’s next?
Literally the one thing they couldn’t do
I’m hoping Rutgers and Purdue never get on that list
4 point play coming to keep illinois in the game
From possibly going up 12 to only leading by five, insane swing.
That’s why the system is built the way that it is, certainly. But there’s definitely something to be said for being battle-tested. When every game is a 30-point win, you don’t get an opportunity to practice situational basketball.
Jamal Shead is like that
Purdue doesn’t bother me, I like Painter even though I think he’s a brain dead coach sometimes. Soft spot for Rutgers and Iowa. But yeah, the list is slowly shrinking.
What a play.
That was the most hysterically obvious shove lol
What an insane stretch by Houston to keep this game in their favor
That was awesome
That was egregious by Cockburn
