This gives the impression that a. he has made virtually no improvements to his defense and b. he is an awful defender. Both of these notions are patently false.
the team allowed 2 more points per possession with him on the floor in the regular season, and 6 points more per 100 possessions in the playoffs.
That could easily be explained by rotations and injuries to certain players (ie Gary Payton Jr.). He’s not Jrue Holiday but pretending Jordan Poole is the same defender he was in college is the sort of backhanded jab Michigan fans seem to love directing at Poole.
I wrote a post every two weeks this season drooling over Poole. If I glibly point out a quantifiable criticism (because it is quantified literally everywhere), there are a reliable niche of people ready to act like I insulted his mom.
Perhaps I should not have said “He has 100% retained his issue” and just said “he’s still bad at defense”. Still.
In game six, the Warriors played their 2nd best offensive player (Poole) for 24 minutes. Why do think that was?
Because he was shooting 4-15 FG, 2 for 11 from 3, they have depth at his position in the form of Stephen Curry, and Kevon Looney, who played 35 mins, was a monster on the glass with 22 Reb which they desperately needed.
If that height and wingspan are right the standing reach must be pretty close right? If you take Kofi’s numbers he should be 5.75 inches longer that Kofi and Kosi’s reach was 9’4
Obviously we would have rather had Hunter but it’s always good to see Juwan’s targets going elsewhere and succeeding. Would be a good exercise to see how well he’s doing so far, especially outside the top 15 or whatever ranked recruits in a year.
Was referring to how Mark Williams actually played at Duke. Ever getting drafted as the RSCI 25th ranked recruit in his class was less than a coin flip. I’d be interested to see how Juwan’s targets are playing, not measuring.
But also having a truly insane standing reach like that is unexpected no matter what.
I am a Bulls (not Pistons) fan - though I am a Pistons well-wisher. I hope for their sake, they take Ivey or Sharpe. I really really like Ivey next to Cade, have less of an opinion about Sharpe. Sharpe’s size, wingspan, and vertical are nearly the template Weaver loves.
