2022 NBA Draft Discussion

I saw him in at least one. I don’t recall which, at the moment.

Does Deyanta Davis qualify as a high level recruit? Think he was a one and done for MSU a few years ago.

I just looked him up and he was #26 nationally. High 4-star.

No houstan, diabate or dickinson

Branham and Christie both mocked in the 2nd round. Liddell in the lottery.

This is starting to be the point in the season where mocks start to update based on the things we see game over game.

Is Zach Edey really more draftable than Dickinson… Idk man… Don’t agree. Edey’s best case scenario is a poor man’s Boban. Atleast you could talk yourself into Dickinson being an average backup big.

One thing I was thinking about today is although Dickinson has progressed offensively(shooting and passing) I wonder if his regression on defense(likely a product of not having plus defenders around him) offsets that.

Liddell in the lottery :astonished:

Also if the b1g loses the obvious ones, branham, Christie, diabate, Dickinson, kofi, houstan, the league will be awful next year.

I do feel bad for Hunter. He’s gotten 0 respect from the draft people when as was said guys like Trevion and Edey are getting some. Like what is Trevion Williams gonna do in the NBA? I even posed that question to Vecenie a month back and he said he like Williams more than Dickinson as an NBA player and I just don’t understand that at all.

Another player not on here: TJD

Williams is an elite passer, I think there’s a lot more intrigue from the NBA in him than Dickinson right now.

I get that and I know there is more NBA intrigue there but that’s what I don’t get. Are NBA teams gonna play through him on offense to make that remotely useful? He can’t shoot or play any defense. What help is a good passing big at that point? They should at least need to be replacement level at one of those skills to make that meaningful. Does he make passes on the short role or in DHO situations? I’m genuinely asking there cause pretty much all the passing I see from him is on the block which even mutes his one ability

I just think that generally evaluators are drawn to one special skill that could be an outlier, but maybe that’s wrong.

Hunter Dickinson doesn’t really have one elite standout NBA skill and that hurts him.

That is likely true. Edey has size to be that standout.

But again, back to why I feel bad for Hunter. If I’m him I’m wondering these same things.

The one special skill thing and Williams here reminds me of Rodney Stuckey. Great, he could get to the rim whenever he wants. He had all the touch of a blunderbuss when trying to finish, so who cares about that one skill? We may be one the same path with Killian Hayes. Great that he can pass, but if you can’t do anything else…

I get Edey because he’s just huge.

There’s the transfer portal and we still have some pretty good coaches and players in this conference. Maybe not the depth the conference has this year. And maybe behind the Big 12 and SEC. But the ACC, Big East and Pac 12? Those conferences don’t really have quality depth right now either.

Totally random dream scenario that will never happen: we need to get PBJ to transfer here

As for Hunter, who’s gonna put the most butter on his bread? Michigan fans are. Surely the program will make the dollars/sense case for him to stay.

I just don’t think the b1g,outside a few coaches, has the level of recruiters that will attract the true elite type transfers. Those are becoming crazy competitive recruitments.
