The question on the table was why Michigan fans on other sites were saying Gonzaga is overrated. In my opinion, this is why. Whether it’s accurate or not is actually irrelevant to the narrative.

It’s similar to the idea that Duke is always an early tournament exit. Obviously that’s factually untrue, but people remember the years they lost to Mercer and not the years they got the Final Four.

Man, if USC can keep this at 13 or so heading into halftime, that will be an accomplishment. Seems like they should be down 50.

USC has 7 TOs, and by my count 4 buckets off TOs. Gonzaga has 11 other buckets that aren’t off TOs.

I’m irrationally mad that Bonner keeps saying Isaiah “Mosley” but has no problem saying Evan “Mobley.” It’s driving me nuts. Please won’t someone join me.

They’re #6 in Kenpom, in the Elite Eight and just beat Oregon and Kansas by double digits. USC isn’t really f**king bad, they’re playing poorly but I’d wager a lot of that has to do with playing Gonzaga

I mean I get that Gonzaga playes in a dog p00p conference but why is there such a constant effort to prove that they’re really not that good?

Guarantee if they lose in the championship everyone is going to point and say “see?!”

They are a great team this year. Jeez.

from what I saw on Twitter and Reddit it was mostly just cause Gonzaga kind of slept walked through like 2 1st halves against Pacific and some other WCC team and that was used as evidence that Gonzaga was not the #1 team. A certain high profile Michigan Twitter member led that for a while

Because fans does not like non-P5 schools having success. It’s the same thing with Boise State Football when they were really good under Peterson.

This is a vastly different beast than some of those past teams. That Zach Collins team was great, though.

I mean, they really do have a history of underperforming, hence the since-2000 numbers. It’s just not such a recent history anymore. :slight_smile:

If people are trying to extrapolate stuff from this season to say that Gonzaga’s not very good… I’m not buying. Michigan can beat them, but Gonzaga is clearly the best team in the country this year.
