Screw it, this is now the Michigan-FSU 2018 open thread.
For a super low scoring rock fight, the flow of this game was actually really good. Props to the refs (if it continues to be this way. I can’t remember).

Yeah, in the second half we’re getting a lot more open looks. But nothing’s falling!
Don’t know if this has been brought up here, but, this is a zoom in on a photo the official basketball account posted.
Whoa, this is some dodgy editing by BTN. They cut out a 5-minute section of the second half?
In their defense, I think they only cut out about two made buckets.
Well, they have to make room for the B1G Show. It’s only airing (counts twice to make sure) 5 times in a row after this.
I forgot about this weird fouling by FSU with over a minute to go.
Much more difficult to catch a pass from a moving passer as well.
A great deal of the ineptness seems to be concentrated in the person of Emmert. He looks like an individual who has climbed the ladder in academic administration and has zero idea of how the business world works.
No doubt the ineptness is a consequence of the NCAA pretending to be nonprofit while hankering after money.
Unfortunately, that contradiction is at the heart of the way elite academic institutions are now run. They have pretty much abandoned their responsibilities towards the American middle class. UM collects $300M in international tuition annually. That is a dangerous dependence that will exact a high cost in the not too distant future.
Completely. International worker at U of M here. One of the saddest things of the past year was realizing to what extent it’s all about business. It is sad not watching Livers playing during the tournament, but I applaud him for rocking that shirt. I am sick of NCAA and Universities’ hypocrisy about non-profit and amateurism. I hope to see him raising the trophy and put the massage in every news outlet.
So what’s everyone’s take on Porter Moser now? Legit candidate for IU?
Not a great showing from Loyola yesterday.
I don’t know , I kinda like it. It certainly works for him in the tourney imo. Tougher In conference play where teams know you and see it twice a year. They’ve made some nice runs with inferior talent over the last 10-15 years because they have it down pat by the post season and teams just aren’t ready for it or go cold from deep.
I felt last nights loss was because of pitiful offense. If you told me Houston scored 60 I would have guess cuse edged them out.
I’m sorry, Porter…Moser? No idea who you’re talking about.
We’re talking about Wayne Tinkle here.
My wife was in that category too as a grad student. I learned a heck of a lot about the university simply by having to owe it money when there was a funding hiccup.
Moser’s offense generated good looks that just didn’t fall. It happens.
I’m now firmly in the Musselman to IU camp. Unlikeable and not good. Seems like a perfect fit for IU.
Musselman seems like a very appropriate choice at that university. Also I like how autocorrect changes his name to Mussel man, like he’s some kind of mollusk. Should make for some fun message board posts.
IU 247 thinks it will be Moser. Or at least that he will get the biggest offer so far.
Moser at IU doesn’t scare me as Nate Oats would. I think he’s a legitimately good coach and they’ll be in the tourney most of the time, but I see his program turning into something like Purdue and Painter (I know, I know. He already made a Final 4 while Painter hasn’t in 16 years at Purdue. Crazy stuff happens). That would obviously be an upgrade for them, but not super frightening in terms of “sleeping giant turns into an awake giant.”
I think Moser is pretty much the best hire IU could make. Maybe Oats would be better but that’s about it. Moser is sort of a late bloomer in terms of his W-L record but he has built the MVC’s dominant program over the past 4-5 years and yet he is young enough to stay at Indiana for 20+ years.
If Moser were 10 years younger and/or his HC resume were just Loyola instead of all that treading water at Illinois State I think there would be a lot more terror around the B1G. Loyola was pretty stank when he took over.
I think his philosophy is a good fit for the B1G. Makes him more likely to succeed
