2020 - F - Isaiah Todd (Commit)

From what I’ve seen so far, raw is not the right word to use. There’s nothing raw about his shooting stroke, he’s got nice mechanics and has a straight up pro stroke. He does play somewhat undisciplined/over-exuberant, which might be what’s leading to the raw remarks. His decision-making could improve, but so what. If you follow his social media, which I do, you’d also recognize that the kid has a good head and a good heart. Whoever said he is a thug is just taking some of his celebratory antics out of context. Beyond borderline racist I’d say.

I think his whole team is more one on one freestyle mode more than anything. I think if Todd gets comfortable with and Howard structure and system it will create a lot more opportunities for him to grow and blossom as a player

His shooting stroke does look very good.

For those longer-ish term UM fans, there’s something Mo Taylor-ish to his game. Maybe it’s just the height, body control, and ability to make plays look so easy at times…and frustratingly struggle with seemingly basic reads the next play.

I don’t think there is any question in my mind Todd already possesses the skills and athleticism to be a big time player as a freshman. At no point am I saying thinks like “his jumpshot is a work in progress or ballhandling needs to be refined.” Obviously those things can always improve but they are very functional currently. I think with Todd it is going to come down to adjusting to the college game and learning how not to just utilize his skills, but utilize them in an efficient way that promotes winning basketball. That is so much easier said than done and some players never figure it out or take years to. Andrew Wiggins is a guy who is just now starting to figure it out IMO. Obviously he is uber talented and always has been but the way he played just wasn’t beneficial to winning games. Todd could be a tremendous player if he learns to play to his personal strengths and what is efficient basketball in the modern game. If he doesn’t he will still be a player who puts up numbers do to his skills and athleticism but I question how much winning that will lead to.

Hope not. Mo had physical talent but not much fire. Not a good decision maker on or off the court.

A few Todd highlights mixed in with Prolific Prep’s dominant performance.

So Todd is instantly the best athlete in the Big Ten if he ends up at Michigan, right?

Not a knock on Todd at all but the video makes me wonder how many extra baskets a game the super athletic guys like him get a game on 2/3-0 fast breaks because their teammate passes it to them for a 360 instead of laying it in themselves.

Long sleeves are currently illegal, but that can change from year to year.

Wow I never realized they were outlawed. Makes sense why I can’t remember seeing a college players wear them

A few years ago there was a player on Xavier who wore long sleeves
