2019 - Wing - Franz Wagner (Commit)

Yea he still is a back end of the bench guy (in fact just today he had 0pts in 8mins), just because he got some minutes in a couple games doesn’t show that he’s some heavy contributor. His stats back up that assessment he does little when he’s on the floor for the top club. They’re also likely feeding him more minutes to get him to stay.
I’ve also read in more than one spot his personality is different than Moe’s (and it was from someone who was asking his brother about him), he’s more of an introvert, so while no one can say how easy or difficult his adjustment would be, id guess it would be more difficult for an introverted personality to adjust, there is a lot going on. All this is not say I dont think he’ll contribute next year, I do. Just expecting him to be an effective 30+ minute a game starter as a freshman is setting yourself up for disappointment.

If he comes he will simply be one more bullet in the chamber. The team’s fortunes don’t ride on how ready he is. Is part of a group from which two or three need to emerge. It’s ideal if that group is stocked with readier-now guys rather than projects.

@MoeSWagner Why are you so critical of your brother? Do you not love him?

Lol I love him, I just want people to have realistic expectations of him his 1st year

One thing to also remember is that the three point line is further where he plays. If he’s shooting 40%, that’s incredibly impressive for a guy his age.

Iggy also stayed a extra year in high school to develope. Iggy wasn’t always a top level recruit. Frans will play if he comes here and given his level of comp… He will succeed and play well here ( if he comes). I really hope that he comes or iggy returns for one year and be the man. His brother MOE… Didn’t play much as a freshman but became a prospect after his sophmore year. The younger is more skilled. I really hope that he comes here. He’s the best prospect.

If you keep your eyes open on Sunday, you might just see a Wagner on campus in AA…

Please elaborate

To be fair Iggy had the same offers as a 2017 I believe as he did as a 18 Michigan included. He just chose to stay back. And from what national scouts said at the time, they thought he’d still be a double digit scorer if he’d have came in in 2017.

Mortiz Wagner

alba has games today and this weekend

Yeah, I’m guessing you’re right. I tried to get thetruth to tell me but he didn’t! I was hoping for Franz. I know pipe dream, but anytime there is a Wagner on campus, that’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned!

thetruth’s posts have been about Franz. Could be Sunday arrival and then stay Monday/Tuesday.

@CoryR can we get some insider verification here???

Meh, you wouldn’t say “a Wagner” unless you purposefully wanted to be misleading. I appreciate his inside info on the German scene but really can’t imagine that response referring to any one other than Moe given the circumstances. If it was Franz he would have just said that

Unfortunately my international contacts aren’t as good as my US contacts so I’m no help here. Still just a North American recruiting expert and insider.

Some people just like to be cryptic, but I doubt Franz would make the trip alone. So if you see a Wagner during his visit, it might not be Franz.

Could it be Beate? Maybe accompanying Franz…on an official…and meeting Moe in AA while she’s there…with Franz?

True. I think we win the championship if he comes a year early.

Pardon my ignorance, but how are guys like Franz still eligible for NCAA purposes? He plays for Alba Berlin but doesn’t draw a salary?

Yes.

But it can be contested - Enes Kanter was held out at Kentucky because transportation, lodging, meals, are still compensation.

Now, he gave up fighting it, so the NCAA never ruled.
