Winston is second team All American, so more than Zion finished ahead of him. He had a great year, but it wasn’t a Trey Burke year.

Getting caught up on this thread with some really good stuff in here…
Duke was a poorly coached team. I got the impression watching K that he wasn’t having much fun. Almost seems like a shell of himself and that he knows he sold himself out to the man/Nike/being a 1 and done factory.
Interesting thought on Izzo going out on top. I still remember as they were cutting to timeout late in the Duke game after State had made a good play, he had a deranged look on his face and was yelling at somebody (Tillman?) and Cassius and some others were patting him trying to calm him down. The look in his eye was just not normal. What I am saying is I can see him going down the Bobby Knight path very easily if he hangs on another 5-7 years. I don’t think its out of the realm of possibility that if he knows Winston/Tillman were to leave that he might take his ball and go home too.
I’ll give the guy his props as a solid coach but he has really made me hate him over the last six years.
They are absolutely a fine basketball team. But I remain far too disgusted by both the school itself and some of Izzo’s actions with regard to players and discipline to applaud. And while I see an NC for MSU as a boost for the B1G’s image, I see it as a net loss in a shifting narrative that has seen Beilein pulling ahead the last few years. Beilein was not supposed to even figure in this picture, so his achievement this year is in some ways as impressive (this was always supposed to be MSU’s year), but no one no one no one is going to see that outside of a few of us.
I don’t applaud when cheaters like KS and Duke and KY (Louisville) win, and I don’t applaud when MSU does. I’m willing to be alone in this, but I also don’t see it as highfalutin’ or doctrinaire; there’s some hardcore ugly up there in EL that is pretty undeniable. Net loss for UM here and net gain for a school that is a disgrace to the B1G.

You’re not alone. If I could hypothetically “trade” scenarios (a final four and let’s just hypothetically say a natty for a Sweet 16 loss and no banners) with MSU this year, but would have to trade the culture and coach, not a chance. Not this year, not any year.

Really ugly half of ball on both sides. Honestly Virginia got lucky to be here, by far the easiest draw imo. They just haven’t looked very good this last month. Maybe they will turn it on. They have uglied up this game though which favors them.
Honestly without those o boards they’d be down 10.
#1 seeds are supposed to have the easiest draws. It’s the reward for being a #1 seed.
IMO, MSU had the easiest draw to the Elite Eight. Bradley, a Minnesota team they dominated in the regular season, and LSU, the worst #3 seed, playing without their coach and no semblance of organization. Even Duke seemed to be overrated.

Brown & Guy were sensational down the stretch.
I didn’t notice in real time that Gerome double dribbled with 2 seconds left. Makes losing just that much harder for Auburn.

Yeah it was a double-dribble but I was pulling for them so it’s OK ;).
Happy for UVA. I think they’re a pretty likable program, more than slimy Auburn. At worst I have one team I can pull for in the championship.
This TT-MSU tilt looks a little like our game with TT at the 15-minute mark. Here’s hoping TT does the same thing they did to us in the second half. Curious how many here are pulling for MSU?
Not me. I loathe MSU. Of course Sparty makes their first two threes.
