I asked this question in Jerry Palm’s Reddit AMA:
"What is your justification for MSU being a 2 seed and Michigan a 4 seed, despite Michigan’s marked advantage in RPI, Q1/Q2 wins and SOS?
What is it about MSU’s resume that makes them a two seed?"
It was the 5th most upvoted post in the thread, and was the only question in the top 18 posts to not be answered.
Makes me think that he couldn’t come up with an actual justification, lol.

Same here, that VCU game was one of the most unexpected and happiest results I’ve had in person. Went into it feeling very negative (people forget how hard we were scuffling before that tourney run). Right behind 2008 Duke at Crisler.

I was there as well with my MSU dad. 
I just took a look at the Jerry Palm reddit page. It is pretty crazy how Jerry Palm just skipped your question but seemingly answered everyone else who had similar questions about other teams. Having them as a 2 is stupid.

Yeah, I’m gonna keep an eye on his next couple brackets. I wonder if he actually thought about it and realized how absurd having them as a 2 is. He 100% read my question.

I wish we had an official Michigan rooting guide for the next week, there’s so many moving pieces and fringe RPI teams that we need to go in various directions.

Can’t argue but it is one of the key metrics used.
They take genuine steps forward and still find ways to do some of the most random weird shit.

They do have to earn their compensation thus next great thing keeps their stipends going.
We’re ranked #7 in the new AP poll. We’re not going to be a 4 seed.
AP poll is irrelevant. From what I can tell, a 4 seems like the most likely outcome

Bracket Matrix has us as a 3.35 and that number is getting lower as more brackets are updated. I think we’ve got a pretty good shot at a 3.
We’re most likely a 3, but a 4 wouldn’t shock me. A 2 isn’t going to happen.
