2017-18 Bracketology

We are certainly playing at the level of a top ten team. We will be picked as a final four team in a lot of peoples brackets (if they have been paying attention).

An interesting note that Beilein made in his BTN interview was how heā€™s had this delay before the tournament at both Richmond and Canisius. Perhaps he figured something good out to stay fresh through that.

3 or 4 seeds does not matter. This team is as dangerous as any other teams in the nation. No obvious weakness, top defense, a deep bench, scoring threats from every position,

Eh, the difference between a 4 or 5 doesnā€™t matter much, but Iā€™d say a 3 vs 4 is somewhat big. Thereā€™s a big drop off from the 1 seeds to the 2 seeds this year in my opinion.

Wichita St. losing to Cinci today could be huge in terms of us getting a potential 3.

I asked the other day whether we didnā€™t have a deeper bench this year and Dylan said he thought it was just about the same. But the last few days confirmed it. . . so many players coming on so fast.

I still have a feeling the committee will underseed the 4 B1G schools in general, and Iā€™d still expect MSU to get a higher seed than UM.

Iā€™m going in expecting a 4, and I just pray itā€™s not in Novaā€™s bracket. That is the one team I donā€™t want any part of in a Sweet 16 matchup.

No matter how this plays out, I know a lot of us have gone through a lot of painful years with this program. Days like today make all the time I spend on this site worth it. GO BLUE!!

One Obvious weakness, free throw shooting. I agree otherwise, this is a though team.

Yeah, I still think free throw shooting will by why we lose whenever we do in the NCAA tourney.

Weā€™re not a great free-throw shooting team. And Rahk with the yips too over the last 2 games was new cause for concern. But it may be that they have shown themselves, at least, that it was mental. And their % over the last few games has been pretty okay. They have 11 days to practice.

Tbh, MAAR has had the yips since he iced the Maryland game. He was a 90% FT shooter at that time, now heā€™s in the upper 70s for the season. Probably close to 60-65% since that game.

Iā€™ll just point out I said we were a 3 seed yesterday. :grinning:

Itā€™s a shame if weā€™re not a 3. I think itā€™s clear we are.

Long week of waiting nowā€¦

In terms of getting us to a 3 seed root against Clemson, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Wichita St. and Tennessee.

I would think that it is really important to get the highest seed possible this year more than others because of the layoff between the BTT and NCAAā€™s. I would think we would want to face the lowest seed possible because I donā€™t think there is any doubt we are going to be a bit rusty that first game. The first 10 minutes or so could be real ugly I have a feelingā€¦

Lunardi bumps Michigan to a 3 in Wichita.

Interesting that Lunardi has neither Michigan or Michigan State playing in Detroit.

Doesnā€™t make any sense. He has Virginia in Charlotte even though itā€™s closer to Pittsburgh. Would expect them to end up in Pittsburgh and UNC to end up in Charlotte not Nashville and allows Xavier to go to Nashville. Makes sense for all parties. That opens up Detroit for MSU or Michigan.

Would they move both squads out to avoid recriminations?

Maybe Lunardi just doesnā€™t want to deal with a backlash? One of MSU or Michigan should be in Detroit. It is going to be a hard decision for members of the selection committee, I think. (Lunardi is probably just sidestepping getting into the debate because both sides have a case.)

#1 bracket matrix site currently has MSU as a 2 in Detroit and Michigan as a 3 in Dallas.

Man, I am so confused as to how bracketologists are treating MSU. After looking at resumes of the top 16 teams or so, Iā€™m not 100% sure at all that Michigan should be a 3. But Iā€™m 100% certain that Michigan should be above MSU on the S Curve.
