I see Coffey multiple times a year, Hopkins is a conference opponent for the school I coach at. He is very skilled and a 6’6" can handle the ball really well. He is a “point forward” for his team. I’m trying to think of a comparison for him and all I can think of is a lefty handed Caris Levert.
He played in about 3 games this past season, while putting up ridiculous numbers, before tearing his ACL. His school has produced a ton of players over the years including Kris Humphries, Royce White, Trent Lockett (ASU then Marquette), and most recently Siyani Chambers from Harvard.
Roy Williams did come up to see him during his sophomore year. If I recall correctly, he was up here in MN twice to watch Amir play.
Last thing to keep in mind, his family is full of athletes. His dad played at Minnesota and in the NBA for a few years. One sister plays basketball at Marist and another plays at Northwestern. I don’t think leaving MN is an issue for the family.
Wow. I really like Brendan Bailey. Beautiful looking shot.
He is the son of 6’11" former NBA player and NC State great Thurl Bailey. This kid has mucho potential.
Bailey decomitted after Herb Sendek was fired
"Bailey committed back on Nov. 30, 2014. He stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 200 pounds according to Rivals. The recruiting service ranks him as the No. 78 recruit in the country in the 2016 class and gave him a 4-star ranking. Scout also has Bailey as a 4-star recruit and ranked No. 51 nationally, No. 15 small forward in his class and the No. 4 small forward on the west coast.
According to Rivals, Bailey is also fielding offers from BYU, Southern Utah, Tulsa and Utah. His sister is BreElle Bailey plays on the ASU volleyball team. His father is former NBA player Thurl Bailey."
Apparently he may take a Mormon mission trip after high school for two years. Does not sound like he is set on it yet but it is a possibility. Jabari Parker elected not to do one after high school as well
Here’s something I just found interesting that I’ve never looked at before. Of the 36 people John Beilein follows on Twitter only one is not a college coach, current or former player, or public figure. That person is Karmari Newman.
It was a local tournament, put on by the Michigan Mustangs. Not sure of the specifics, but not quite the EYBL or anything like that. However, that holds true for most of the tournaments over the last week.

I believe this link will take you to a new miles bridges interview. He always talks about how michigan is taking players and putting them into the league. I hope we can make a move on this kid. Also he has some interesting things to say about the cassius package deal
Interesting about the package deal. Bridges suggests that Winston will follow him if he decides to attend one of the Michigan schools. Won’t necessarily play out that way but it’s clearly a topic of discussion between them, and not just idle speculation. In any event, given his consistently positive words about the program, Bridges should be a huge priority right now.
Also saw another vid on MLive in which Bridges says UK and MSU are contacting him the most. Hope we are picking up the phone.
