2015 Guard and Wing Recruiting (PJ Dozier, etc.)

Davis announcing next week, obviously not UM, but 247 thinks he could end up with MSU. Find that unlikely unless he’s coming in as a PG since they aren’t getting Brunson. I’m with Dylan, I’m thinking its Texas since UK hasn’t offered, but if Izzo told him he can come in as a PG then MSU may be the choice.

@FJFerrick Yeah, but decent chance he ends up at a Big Ten school.

Also great visit with coach Val assistant coach at Michigan. It was our first time meeting each other and already we have a great bond

Solid news there. Staff has a home visit, an official visit and a great track record recently with guards to use to try and get him in the fold. As of now, looks like minutes available at the guard spots as well.

As expected, Eric Davis picked Texas today.

This will give MPBear a court side seat for assessing his future development! Ironic.

I hope you are right my friend, but I’m not holding by breath.

Wow..........pretty surprised at this, but he isn't exactly known for his accuracy either

My guess is Michigan ends up taking 2 guys in their 2015 class. Think Dozier ends up in Ann Arbor and they add a guy late again.

If he's wrong, no one will remember this prediction, but if he's right, he can say he called it. I also think Dozier ends up at Michigan. He and his father have previously made very positive statements about us and I get a Kam Chatman feel to this recruitment. Chatman was a perfect fit for what Michigan needed at the time of his commitment and it's the same with Dozier.

“They’re going to come in for a home visit and we’re going to sit down and talk to them and evaluate the situation and see how it goes from there,” Perry Dozier, Sr. told InsideTheVille.com. “I think we’re going to do it next Wednesday.”

Dozier said a decision to make an official visit to Louisville would depend on how Pitino’s in-home visit goes next week.

“That’s the plan, to see how it goes,” said Dozier. “We’re very interested in Louisville, we trying to make sure and see what’s the situation and what happened….all that good stuff and see how that goes.”

How does Dozier feel about Louisville trying jump back in the mix with his son after Blakeney spurned the Cards?

“We don’t know exactly what happened,” said Dozier. “I guess that’s why we want to see what happened. We know it’s a business. You recruit two guys at the same position and one commits, it’s one of those things that happen. So we’re going to sit back and talk to them…get face to face with Coach Pitino and we’ll see how it goes and go from there.”

Dozier has already conducted in-home visits with the other four schools on his short list — Georgetown, Michigan, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“Everybody has been in except Louisville,” Dozier said.

I fully expect his in-home with Louisville to go well. This isn’t Pitino’s first time around the block. I hope our coaches point to the fact that when we got Robinson, we stopped recruiting Coleman, but not Dozier, and why. I think that could go a long way.

Damn, wish Blakeney didn’t walk away from Louisville. If I was a guard like PJ I still think I would prefer to play ball for Beilein who is putting guards in the lottery and 1st round versus Pitino who is putting them in the 2nd round.

According to a report from Phil Kornblut of GoGamecocks.com, the official visit schedule for class of 2015 point guard Perry Dozier Jr has shifted yet again.

Per Dozier’s father, the Maryland Terrapins and Louisville Cardinals are now the schools in the running for the fifth, and final, official visit. Previously, Dozier had named a final five, in no particular order, of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgetown, Michigan and Louisville.

While the planned trips to Michigan and Georgetown won’t change, the dates for Dozier’s official visits to South Carolina and North Carolina have moved. The four visit dates that are now set for the talented guard out of the Palmetto State can be found below.

Michigan - 9/26
North Carolina - 10/3
Georgetown - 10/17
South Carolina - 10/24

What do you make of it, guestavo? Is it a good sign that Michigan’s date is locked down, while the perceived favorites are less solid (as least as it pertains to when)? Or is it simply that those two are easier to move around given location?

Daddy Dozier is from DC, hence the comfort with local teams GU and Maryland. I don’t think either of those teams are in the upper echelon of the 6 at this point. I’d say SC, NC/UM, with UL third

I think a full staff visit after the final visit will be needed just like with Chatman.

Another reason skipping out on Coleman could burn later, what if Walton and/or Irvin goes pro after this year? I don’t understand how the 2014 philosophy was “fill all available spots” but they are willing to not recruit a top 30 guy?

Why are UNLV, Illinois, and Notre Dame the 3 teams that made Coleman’s final 3? Is it just me or does that not strike a funny chord with anyone else? I mean, a Top 30 guy and his list doesn’t have Indiana, MSU, Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Florida, UCLA, Arizona, OSU, Michigan, etc on it?

Maybe it’s just the bouncing around he did with AAU teams and high school teams that just makes me leery of him.

I just don’t hear much of a good “buzz” about him like you see of typical Beilein recruits.

Since when are Notre Dame and Illinois crooked?

“Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Florida, UCLA, Arizona, OSU” reads like the opposite.

I think Coleman is a quiet kid that everyone misread.

Where did I say the schools are crooked? And I’m not even saying Coleman is “crooked.”
All I’m saying is it strikes a funny chord that no basketball majors/powers are in a Top 30’s top 3.

Especially considering the AAU jumping around and the Cathedral/LaLumiere stuff…nothing illegal or out of bounds just not a good buzz about him.

Coleman isn’t coming to Ann Arbor. No one except the coaches truly know why. Wish him good luck wherever he goes and be done with it.
