2015 Guard and Wing Recruiting (PJ Dozier, etc.)

Really wished we kept pursuing Jaylen Poyser.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of news about him regarding any school. What is the latest buzz on him? Both him and Jamaal Murray would both really fit in well I think.

Narrowing his list and setting visits. Has been SCORCHING nets this month.

Can we change the name of this thread to be PJ Dozier or Bust?

Yup. Unless Poyser is pursued.

RE: Poyser

And after his five officials were scheduled to Hawaii, Oklahoma, Cal, Rhode Island and Dayton—and reported by Adam Zagoria—Jalen Poyser went for 23 points for Team Canada. He spoke to SNY.tv, explaining his growth: “[Coaches] say they like the way I attack the basket, how I can create for myself and my teammates.”

End of that.

Not that it matters but the naysayers on this kid will be eating crow

Dillon Brooks confirms to ESPN that he has committed to Oregon for this year. Has some Draymond Green-Georges Niang-Jared Dudley in his game

Green I can see, but a comparison to Niang and Dudley? Brooks is nowhere near that level in terms of shooting

Michigan will face him in Brooklyn possibly. Brooks fits the mold as that sort of underrecruited kid like Draymond or Niang because he’s too small. Will be interesting to watch his development.

Green was underrecruited? Could be wrong, but I seem to remember him being a top 30ish player out of HS?

Looks like Dudley didn’t really add the 3 ball as a weapon until his junior year. Perhaps my most recent memories of him tainted the early years.

Day Day was more 75-125 range if I remember correctly – similar to Brooks. He was headed to Kentucky because of Tubby, but that fell off the table then Michigan thought it had a really good chance at him before MSU finally stepped in with an offer.

Looks like we were both right…and both wrong. That is a pretty large discrepancy. A 30-40 spot swing isn’t all that unusual between sites, but a 90 spot variation…Rivals got this one wrong…big time

Green was #36 to ESPN

#122 to Rivals (now you see why I place no credit with Rivals!)

To add on to that saga, I remeber Green’s mom was pro UM and was pretty ticked that he picked MSU.

Kenny Williams informs Scout that he has committed to Shaka Smart and VCU.

Was hoping he was UNC bound.

UNC is the school to beat for Dozier. Despite all of the familial ties to SC, I will be surprised if he ends up there.

Not me, I think SC is the destination.

Interesting to see what Michigan can do on the visit. Hopefully something that will really impress him. I like him as much as anyone the staff is recruiting right now.

" the elite PG from South Carolina will now take his first official visit to Michigan Sept. 26"

I like the positioning of the visit sooner rather than later. Set the bar high so he has something to measure the others against. You can see that Michigan is becoming a very special school to play for and is establishing its own identity and culture. It might take another year, maybe two, but UM will be a top 5 destination under John Beilein.
