Upcoming Season

Lonergan playing B1G minutes. Great. Apparently we won’t be seeing Ibi anymore?

Agreed. Confusing seeing Lonergan over Ibi. Not a good sign.

Just a pretty mediocre team.

3 straight years of it. I really don’t blame the fans who don’t show up. If I still lived in Ann Arbor I sure as hell wouldn’t.

I was going to get some tickets for Saturday to see Maryland. No thanks.

Mediocre is right. Mediocre talent level and mediocre coaching. I’m a big JB fan, as everyone on this board knows, but Michigan should be getting much better results from a top-10 paid coach.

Also what the hell was Walton doing at the end of regulation? Tie game with 10 seconds left and he uses 8 of them to get across half court? That’s our senior leader? Where’s the awareness?

Not just a senior, A 4-year starting senior point guard. Never thought I’d say this, but I’m ready for Irvin and Walton to graduate.

Who can they replace them with? Ibi and X. Mediocre to bad roster.

Just a killer that we have no college ready Frosh that can contribute with some effective play. Can’t have four long term developmental projects handcuffing your roster.

Iowa started four Frosh ( one a RS ) and they all looked good at times. Three of them logged 31+ minutes and the other played 20+. Need some Frosh scholarship kids who are ready to play and contribute from day one.

We returned 5 starters from last year and have two guys that didn’t start last year but now are playing close to 30 minutes a game. Unless we had a blue chip coming in, it was gonna be hard to get minutes for a young guy this year.

Cook and Bohannon are good players but they’re getting opportunities cuz guys like Gesell, Clemons, Woodbury, Uthoff all graduated. I don’t think any of Iowa’s freshmen would crack our rotation more than X is, and I think X would probably play closer to 20-25 minutes and look more promising if he was on Iowas roster this year.

Cook and Bohannon would DEFINITELY get minutes on this team. Revealing that we return everybody and they start four new Frosh and beat us.

Just watched the game lol at the ending. Are they serious? Guys played tight and nervous late second half. There were a few times moe was open on the baseline and he wasn’t calling for the ball, like he didn’t want it.

Also the refs were brutal around nine minutes. Michigan had a shot to pull away and the refs really kept it close with some bad calls.

Still had a lot of chances to seize control late and they didn’t.

You think Cook’s taking more than 10 minutes from Wagner? Knowing JB, he’d probably have Donnal over him too. Bohannon had a great game but I highly doubt he’s playing over MAAR this year if he’s on our team.

You praised their freshmen class because they have 4 guys playing 20+ minutes. X, Teske and Ibi would be getting minutes on that team too.

We lost on the road in a place we haven’t won in 5 years (even in conference championship seasons) in a game with highly questionable calls throughout. This game was revealing only in that we need Irvin and Walton to make shots in order to win, which we have known for 3 years. If you’d take Bohannon over Irvin or Walton, I’ll just have to disagree.

I said it over on the blog. I am glad to see other people are saying it: JB needs to be more thoughtful about resting guys. Irvin and Walton, more than most big ten caliber athletes, are both highly susceptible to fatigue and yet JB gives them minutes like they both possess Russell Westbrook’s motor. …Wilson actually has a decent motor but I don’t want to see him play over 30 a game… does JB expect a 6’11" 240 pound power forward to play 44 minutes and still be able to be effective down the stretch? Seriously, I love JB, but this loss is on him.

Considering the insane minutes played by our guys that have limitations as athletes–I think we played pretty good.

How in the world would X, Teske and Ibi get minutes on their team? They can’t play. They aren’t college ready to contribute. Heck they can hardly get a shot off, let alone be a rotation player.

Iowa with four starting Freshmen and Fran McCaffrey, just defeated the second most experienced starting five in the B1G. That is very very disappointing.

If you don’t think Cook and Bohannon would get minutes on our roster, I would humbly have to disagree.

It is weird because we are almost there on defense. We close out and seem to give up at the last second. We could do better, but Irvin is wrong. We were getting amazing looks from 3. Wide open. Nobody around. Much more wide open than Iowa I think.

I think this statement is sort of emblematic of the big hurdle Irvin has to overcome to be a better player: He lives in a fantasyland. He needs to resist the strong, strong temptation to play pretend basketball. To his credit he has been doing much better. I thought he was very solid for the first 30 minutes.

Mich had every opportunity to win this game. This was even with the horrible officiating. These refs need to be reviewed/investigated for impersonating game officials. Official need to stop covering for each other and make the right calls. Now with that being said I have said from the beginning of this season that the team would be in trouble if Zak and Walton get run into the ground and that is what is happening.

I know everyone wants Bamba but I think the team is going to need another ball handler shooter next year at the wing/3. I don’t see Ibi as a candidate for initiating offense even next year and we need wings to be able to initiate. Poole/Brooks/Livers better be ready out the gate or we will be in trouble.

MAAR is what he is which is not a starter quality player.
