NBA Draft Projections & Mock Drafts 2019

If I’m not mistaken I believe the 76’s have five picks, four of them in the second round. I’d sure like to see the Sixers use one of those second rounder’s on Charles!

Rumor is Charles blew out a knee really bad. He had to be taken to the hospital which is quite unusual

Naturally. One of the more professional and better people to go through the program in awhile (and they’ve all been good) is the one who has the most issues. I really thought he’d be a steal in this class if he was healthy to be a really solid player In the league because of his defense.

this absolutely sucks, i hope that someone will cover his medical bill and the rehab.

Oh jeez, I didn’t even think of that. Even worse. What usually happens in scenarios like that? I don’t know. How awful.

first conveyed this morning, but no confirmation so far.

You’d think the team he’s working out for would have a policy for this scenario. Or at least his agent.

I love this yearly feature from Seth Davis. Polls NBA scouts and front office execs and puts together quotes on draft prospects.

The feedback on Michigan guys is not promising…(hope this is okay to post, I highly encourage subscribing to the Athletic)

Ignas Brazdeikis, 6-7 forward, Michigan, 20. “I’m not a huge fan. He measured smaller than I thought. He’s not all that athletic. I don’t think he can guard a 4, and right now doesn’t have the ability to play the 3. I don’t like drafting Michigan players because I think John Beilein takes average players and makes them look terrific. His guys get drafted high but don’t do much in our league. Lateral quickness is a question. He was terrific the first month of the season, but I don’t know what happened to him. He did not shoot the ball well in the workout I saw. What does he do to really stand out on an NBA floor? He’s a streaky shooter but not a bad one.”

Charles Matthews, 6-6 guard, Michigan, 22. “Breaks my heart that the kid just tore his ACL. He was borderline before the injury. Now I can’t imagine who would draft him. I don’t see anything there. If you’re a wing in our league you have to be able to shoot, and he doesn’t have that yet. He’s more of a two-way guy who you develop. When you don’t improve your jumper after playing for Beilein, that’s a troubling sign. He’s going to have to make it defensively.”

Jordan Poole, 6-5 guard, Michigan, 19. “He should have stayed in school. Doesn’t handle the ball in terms of being to attack off the dribble. He’s going to have to take the long route to the NBA, probably through the G League. Not a fan. Good size but not a great athlete. I’m not convinced he loves basketball. Smooth as heck. Can really pass it. I think he can be a point guard if he gets stronger. Needs to get better as a defender but he’s good. He’s smaller than I thought, really lean and thin. Toughness is his biggest question. I question his decision-making. I thought he was good at times, but at other times I thought Michigan lost games because he was a train wreck.”

I think all of those assessments are fair. I would be surprised if more than one Michigan player is drafted Thursday and not at all surprised if none hear their names called.

I think an O/U would be set at .5 Michigan players drafted

@buckets12 - Still of this belief going into the draft?

I’d like to go on record and state my belief that Ignas Brazdeikis will be JB’s best pro since Levert. I think the kid’s a killer and I really hope he succeeds at the next level, it was a blast watching him at Michigan

Worth noting that being one of the top undrafted players can be better than getting drafted. Poole and Iggy have their work cut out for them either way. Will have to grind in the GLeague this year, maybe get a two way. Really hoping at least one solidifies themselves as an NBA player

Agree on the assessments being fair. Iggy not coming back is the one that hurts me the most, but I get it because of his age. With Poole I am just shaking my head all around.

ESPN just dropped a new mock draft. Jordan Poole to the Pistons at 45, no Iggy or Matthews. Romeo Langford to the Pistons at 15 too.

Yeah I’m sticking with it. My gut says Iggy gets drafted 2nd round and his career moves upward from there.

I get the knock on drafting Beilein’s players. It’s high praise. I just wonder how relevant it is to a one and done like Iggy who was really good right off the bat at Michigan. Or to Poole, who struggled so much after a great start. Of all of his NBA prospects, Poole stands out for not being nearly a finished product. Given another year or with a different roster, Beilein might have been able to turn Poole into an overrated lottery pick.

Wince/cringe/sigh. Speaking about Michigan’s basketball program, what a comedown in expectations from late February, in so damn many ways. As for the prospects, good luck to them. Iggy seems to know what’s what. Here’s hoping Matthews grinds his way into the league eventually. It wasn’t his achilles.

Yeah it feels like just yesterday everyone was discussing how Beilein would fill the remaining scholarships, which top grad transfers he may get, whether or not Iggy and Poole had a chance of coming back, and what kind of impact Jalen Wilson would make. Now we have a new coach, no Jalen Iggy or Poole, 3 open scholarships, and lower expectations.

Its a weird and unexpected situation, but the upside: This is gonna be a super fun and interesting year. With no real known expectations, following this new era, especially in the first couple years, is gonna be captivating to say the least. For better or for worse, every game should at least be interesting.

Not only that, but I assume @hack was also referring to our chances last season…to win a regular season B1G crown, to three-peat the BTT, to make another F4 or even win it all, etc.
