NBA Draft Projections & Mock Drafts 2019

I think it’s more a reflection on the NBA and the “athletic potential” based draft than it is on Iggy. His NBA draft ceiling (not pure NBA ceiling, specifically draft) was never going to get very high IMO.

I think with another year here in JB’s system, he would have averaged around 17/6, shot better from three, and cracked the late first round. But, of course, JB left, so it was never going to happen either way.

Glenn Close has been following your work for several years, and is said to be quite impressed. All that’s needed now is to follow through. Boil the bunny.

Beilein to Pop, that’s a hell of a coaching combo if it happens.

Ignas Brazdeikis | Freshman | PF | Michigan

Brazdeikis announced that he will be keeping his name in the draft shortly after Michigan’s John Beilein accepted the Cleveland Cavaliers head-coaching position. After a somewhat disappointing showing at the NBA combine, Brazdeikis’ draft stock isn’t on the most solid ground, but he will start his professional career nevertheless.

If Matthews can become a 33-35% shooter from 3 he’ll be a rotation guy 8th or 9th man for a lot of years. His FT shooting did get better over his college career. Basically if you’re an NBA team and your shooting coach says they can get Matthews there, he’s worth a 2nd rounder and if not, you keep an eye on him and hope the G-League, another team’s bench or Europe can do some of the work for you.

I agree. Matthews’s defense and athleticism will give him a chance. He needs to go to the right situation, though.

For example, Golden State with Curry & Klay, those 2 handle the ball a lot and spread the defense, so Matthews can be a shutdown perimeter defender. Similar OKC where Russ and Paul George carry the offensive load, Matthews can run the floor, finish at the rim, play defense.

But Philly or the LA Lakers, where the team needs more floor spacing on offense, Matthews would be a bad fit despite his defense.

For those who think that it is just Michigan players that go to the draft early even if they aren’t a lotto pick. A lot of guys out there that declared early, will stay in and probably won’t be picked.

Wow. Either a lot of guys are getting bad advice or they just don’t want to “play school.”

And just about all of them will make more money next year than they did this year. Even if it means playing somewhere else.

Based on evidence presented in the FBI Trials, some of them might not. Haha

Well, I’m going with the assumption that most anyone getting paid under the table is probably going to be drafted and will still get a raise.

I’m a basketball purest, old school and I love the college game more than any other. But recently, (maybe it’s just JB leaving), there seems to be a transformation taking place. It feels like the NCAA is losing ground and I think there’s a crap load of Money to be made. I don’t blame these kids one bit for jumping at the cash if it’s there. The NCAA got greedy, no reason the kids shouldn’t!

Probably, but that’s a low bar to clear. And if their schools make them pay tuition if they later return, it’s a questionable financial trade off in the long run.

Poole 55
Matthews 56
Iggy 58

I’d flip Iggy and Poole but otherwise that looks about right.

It’s three spots. That late in the draft I think the distinction is pretty meaningless. What this says is that all three are fringe draft prospects.

Gonna be real interesting if at actually gets to pick 55 and no Wolverines have been called yet. I’m also curious to see if Beilein will be visibly present this year
