Michigan’s RPI was 39 going into the game yesterday and they hung tough with a very good team. I would hope they’re on the right side of the bubble.
I’ll book my trip to see the semifinal loss again! Woo!

Honestly if they don’t win it next year I’m not sure they ever will
After losing 13-1 on Friday at Minn, UM with a huge comeback win today 9-8. Crazy game late, a ton of reviews. UM down 5-0, ties is 5-5, but gives up a 2 run HR to be down 7-5 going into the 7th. We get a run in the 7th, a run in the 8th to tie it, but leave the bases loaded. In the 9th, we get 1st and 3rd and no out, but then took a 2 out single to drive in two runs for a 9-7 lead. Minn cuts it to 9-8 and with 1st and 3rd and 2 out, we get a strikeout to end the game. Really need to win on Sunday and take the series.
Good day for the RPI. Yesterday’s loss dropped us from 41 to 42, but now up to 38 with the win (and losses by teams just above us).

What a gritty weekend for the guys. That’s how you bounce back from the Friday game. Keep fighting and a tournament appearance will be theres!
Also softball selection show tonight at 7. Every bracketology thing I’ve seen has had Michigan in. Fingers crossed!

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t know Carey got hurt. When did that happen?
He’s thrown 17 innings last pitched early March.
He was hurt in Feb, came back briefly (1 game?) in March, and hasn’t pitched since. So must have been re-injured, haven’t heard a word on any prognosis or return.
Total surprise we started Quedens today, presumably against Minn’s strong lefty lineup. Lally warmed up mid game, but did not cone in. Assume Lally will start vs Kent St on Tuesday, who has a RPI in the mid-50s.
Standings and then comments:
UM is very likely above the cut line, and 2 out of 3 vs Osu this week should keep them there. Oregon winning 1 vs UCLA moved their RPI from 27 to 19, so now we have 2 more quad one wins (now 4-9 in quad one).
Top 4 get a bye for the BTT, teams 5-12 play a double elimination to then ‘join’ the 4 bye teams in a single elimination 8 team bracket. Not critical, but UM has a pathway to 4th place and a bye. If they tie with Oregon, they have the H2H tiebreaker. If they take 2 or 3 vs Osu, then we have the tiebreaker vs Purdue (common BT opponents, we’d be 12-3 vs Purdue’s 11-4). Oregon hosts USC while Purdue is at Iowa.

Honestly my take is, make it to the Regional Final with Oklahoma and call that a win for the season. Kansas will be a decent opponent.
