I have no idea what this type of operation would cost, but Seth did magazine work for a long time before joining mgoblog, so I’m sure it’s not a figure out of thin air. They gotta make some money on it, too.
If it’s like the football one, they’ll go all out with the quality of the materials. I think Seth lost about 10 years of his life trying to get the football one to the finish line (if you know Seth some of that is definitely self-inflicted).

I suppose. For football coverage, that site has always gone above and beyond, but honestly, the bball has been pretty meh by comparison. Probably just spoiled by the content here, but still. Just seems like a crazy amount of money to kickstart for a coffee table book where 95% of the content is already written.

No arguments on the quality of the basketball writing/content. 40 game recaps from Alex Drain (plus content from a certain other individual) doesn’t move any needles for me.
I’m not particularly interested in the product, but I hope the project is a success for them.

I think we are spoiled by the content here. We’re also spoiled by the message board here. This is literally the only place on the internet where I engage. Venturing outside the confines of the UMHoops message board to other comments sections and message boards is like a Mad Max-style hellscape.

I still have a book and 2 boxes of trading cards I pre-ordered. Knew those would take a while to be completed and delivered.
Also have the embroidered sweatshirt and commemorative national championship card from the NIL shop I’m waiting on. Then my orders are all over.
Probably should order something else soon…

*A neighbor stopped me the other day. We’ve talked for years. Never about work. They saw the project shared by a friend of a friend and just wanted to say how exciting it is.
Every day, I check in with my mom in Brittany (France). She followed team all season and watch the final. Yesterday, she couldn’t believe that it was fully funded. “Un Truc de ouf,” she said.
Truly. That’s when it hits you. The University of Michigan goes further than you thought.*
