The UNC fan base collectively celebrating the hell out of the lack of punishment for the academic stuff leaves a sour taste favoring Michigan.
Really nice win, you can see the pieces coming together. they have a real chance to win this tourney
Seems like Juwan also has the wherewithal to let Phil coach out parts near the end of the game when the team was struggling with inbound turnovers.
Really impressive win for us! My quick thoughts:
-Despite all the turnovers, they are playing with more chemistry than I wouldâve expected at this point. Much credit to Juwan and staff for that
-Surprised Zavier was player of the game. He is our rock and yes, he had a ton of assists, but this was clearly not one of his better games. Iowa St really rattled him at times
-So awesome to see Franz in action, and I liked that he was aggressive at the start. One thing he didnât do was drive to the hoop much, but I expect that will be coming pretty soon as he gets more into game shape. Also has active hands and I think will get a lot of steals for someone his size
-Dejulius hit 2 absolutely huge shots in the last 5-10 minutes when Iowa St was on the verge of really turning the tide. He played good D as well from what I saw
-Nunez on defense is really hard to watch
-Isaiah has such a smooth stroke and quick release. Agree with Dylan that he pretty much canât take too many shots right now
Underrated dude is Austin Davis for his long stretch to end the first half.
Also credit A.D. for not transferring but sticking it out. Not a lot of guys do so and he came up huge for us today.
Sorry meant that in reply with wolverheel.
Do you have something like UMHoops for UNC basketball?
What happened there? I saw Phil giving some input there, at least, but was there more to it?
Nope. Inexplicably awful blog scene for what youâd think would be a crowded market. https://www.thesecondarybreak.us/ was good, but died a while ago.
Iâve had the same experience looking for something similar for my second team (UT).
I honestly think some of those TOâs were the result of playing the cupcakes we have played previous to today. Neither Elon nor Houston Baptist, which was simply a bad defensive team, had either the athleticism or the quickness of this ISU team. In addition, ISU plays more aggressively than what weâve seen. Some of the passes resulting in TOâs today, many of which I thought were rather careless, simply wouldnât have been TOâs in the last couple of games.
I think, as the competition continues to increase, valuing possessions a little better will work itself out. I donât think weâll ever be a ball possession team like we were under JB. I think we will be a bit freer and looser out there, but this is going to be a fun team to watch, and I think a fun way for the kids to play, too.
Iâm a little scared of our shot volume moving forward if we donât increase our OREB% or decrease our TO%. We do seem very good at making shots and making the other team miss shots though.
I think the difficulty in having a site like this for UNC is the need for advanced metrics on academic cheating. Not sure there are enough numbers to crunch for a truly data-driven approach.
I think Creighton was the must win. This one was certainly the most winnable of the remaining âgoodâ teams we play though.
Not sure I agree. The upper echelon of teams doesnât seem to be as upper this year as it has been in years past. I think there is potential for things to be wide open, but that feeling is based off a small sample size obviously.
He redeemed himself. Big time. Just thinkâŚwe couldâve had Taylor CurrieâŚwhew! Lol. He really impressed me in the 2nd half.
And what just rocks is that UM nabbed them both.
DeJulius and Castleton both made some big baskets down the stretch.
I had some very impolitic comments about Eli Brooks here in my living room.
Need to see Brooks keep his head up, and keep his cool in that scenario next time. He still played a solid game. Seems like a guy who could succumb to those confidence issues again.
