Game 2: Creighton at Michigan Open Thread

That was Brooks

I think the expectations make sense. It’s the one position the team is weak at right now. I think everyone’s fairly certain he’ll be functional at worst which would be huge.

Yeah, it’s less about Franz in a vacuum and more about how Franz’s strengths and profile fit what this team needs.

I DO think we’ll have to be patient with the young man. He is uber talented, but he is a freshman, and he’s missed several weeks, or will have, with his wrist. Despite what some may think, it will take him some time to get into game condition, and, frankly, he will not have shot the ball in a fair amount of time. I think he’s going to be really good, but we will have to be patient.

Good point RE: Bajema. With how much Nunez struggled tonight, it’s pretty clear that if Cole were gonna get a chance, tonight would’ve been it. Particularly with Franz coming back

Not enough arc imo. He’s trying to aim it too much. Ends up flat and short.

No one is building Franz into a legend. He is just likely to be a much more positive impact than Nunez.

Nunez can hopefully still have an impact. He is going to really need to work on d and play hard to not get burned constantly but with effort and work maybe he can do it. If he can turn into a slightly below avg defender but become a lights out shooter he could still be effective.

Agree. DDJ looked good tonight. Better than Johns or Castleton tonight.

Bajema still might play this year if he pulls a Caris and develops enough in practice to force his way into the rotation.

Dejavu! It seems the Nunez negatives were once discussed about Duncan Robinson too. By the way X was 1 assist short of a double double tonight. This team going to be alright.

Agreed hopefully Nunez can make the defensive strides necessary. Glad to see he is shooting with confidence at least. He def has a nice stroke and I could see future days where he catches fire and comes up huge off the bench.

Nunez is not Duncan. Not even close.

It’s true. Duncan had NBA written all over him in HS.

Amusingly, the guy most resembling Duncan is Isaiah Livers.

I’d say it’s Franz Wagner.

How can we be so sure? The safe bet is he’ll never achieve what Duncan was/ is but i think his point is valid. When people first saw film on Duncan and when he first was getting minutes a lot of people ( myself included) logged a lot of the same complaints. Hell you heard/ read rants against the mans value well into his his junior year.

Nunez has the ability to shoot with the best of them. His d is a travesty right now but if he can make the jump like Duncan did to being below avg on d instead of unplayable then In two years we could look back on his career fondly and all be happy coach b took a chance on a kid and that Howard saw it through and developed his first diamond in the rough,
