Game 11: Wisconsin at Michigan Open Thread

The last three games we’ve come out on fire to start the second half. Can we put UW out of its misery quickly?

The Open Threads are a mine field–approach with great caution!

He does make some sloppy TO’s at times but I disagree with Goodman there. Kid is the real deal. Smith is a really nice player. Also he seems to have come up pretty big with buckets whenever we have needed him to this year.

I don’t think he did? Did he?

If you’d told me Dickinson would have two points and we’d be up by 17 at halftime?

No he didn’t.

I believe we ended the half with both Hunter and Austin on the bench

One of my only gripes with Beilein era teams was the frequency of lengthy scoring droughts that took them out of games or made big leads disappear. With this year’s Michigan team it’s just the opposite. It really feels like they’re going to go on a big run in every game. Their energy just carries over and it feels like winning plays on the defensive end are just as important as winning plays on the offensive end.

Unless they come out and blitz us to start the half, I can’t see them making it too uncomfortable for us. Our defense has been very good. So even if they tighten the screws on us a bit, it’s still gonna be a grind for them on offense.

Stay disciplined on our assignments. Contest shots. Rebound the ball. Move the ball.

Near the end of the half, it almost felt like Michigan’s rotations were almost like Hockey shifts… just going full out. Love this!

Yeah Smith is pretty crucial to what this team does on offense. Clearly has room to improve but I would definitely not have a problem with him playing PG in a big spot

Trice had 1 bucket after the opening 5 points and was scoreless for the last 13 minutes of the first half

Second half of Minny and first half Wisconsin add up to a nice little 36-point win over a two-headed ranked opponent.

I was a little behind in the DVR so just caught up on the comments. I think you guys are over reacting to Smith. He had a couple sloppy plays that are frustrating, but as Dylan says - he’s asked to do a lot.

I was one of his biggest defenders in the off season and said we just needed average or replacement level play from him. I think we are getting more than that and I am not complaining.

Nvm, I probably wasn’t paying attention lol

When someone has to make a play, Smith has stepped up to the challenge more times than I can remember. That has a LOT of value.
