Right, my point is that Michigan (and every university) has committed that sin against every revenue athlete. OSU committed it against Maurice Clarett, Kentucky committed it against Anthony Davis, etc. He is seeing a broad, systemic problem and blaming a single player in the larger game for it. Webber was not uniquely “sinned” against, and Michigan did and does not uniquely commit this sin. He is no more a victim than any football or basketball player, and Michigan no worse an offender than any D1 university.
Webber didn’t make UM hire Ellerbe and throw itself on its sword by disinvesting in basketball while every other major program continued to make strong *** offers to high profile recruits.
Webber gets too much blame for the program’s decline.
We’ve been over this so many times that Dylan’s eyes may be rolling into the back of his head. And you make some good points. But the idea that Chris doesn’t care what happened doesn’t pass muster. And we’re just not close enough to the action to know what Chris thinks today, or what confidences or healing conversations he may or may not have held with the team’s other players. Obviously, a great deal led up to the recent on-air lovefest, outpouring from Juwan and others. . .
Since this era aligned with my college years at Michigan and I had at least some small link to some of the players while there…I have many thoughts on what happened, Chris’s role, what might have happened differently from a few angles. But I’m sick of the Fab Five. I’m sick of the Webber/Rose feud being part of the story surrounding the program. And we’re in such a better place now after a decade of Beilein and two years of Juwan that it doesn’t matter anymore. So I’m going to stop talking about it and just hope that this is a step in the right direction for THEM…the program is already in a good place regardless.
Yeah, I don’t blame him for the decade plus of misery.
That looks like a fairly expensive rug there. Wouldn’t mind a clearer shot of it, and, anyways, Chris can just send me that Michigan gear and me and him would be cool with all of this.
(Srsly, Webber has had a life even a Hollywood screenwriter couldn’t have written. Whatever my conflicted feelings are about it, I’m sure his are many hundred times more intense.)
Different referees for the 2002 WCF would’ve taken care of that ring issue. Games 4 and 6 in particular.
Flip Saunders didn’t do him any favors in the 2007 ECF but that was more of a small error. It’s not like Chris was in his prime then. He was just very effective when on the court that series.
It really ties the room together.
No – Jalen standing on it. That would do the trick.
(But shoes off, please! The rug, man…)
Lefty hook
I miss him so much.
What’s the Kingdom?
It appears that it is an indoor sports facility in Ohio
Looks like he’s basically playing pickup.
It’s a summer pro-am league in Columbus
So pretty much Lansing’s Moneyball, where Tum Tum regularly put up 30.
You’re telling me if I hadn’t just moved from Columbus I could’ve been watching a living legend play basketball just down the road??? Ding dang
Which reminds me that this tweet I saw earlier today fits in this thread….
Man I hope Charles gets on a roster he deserves it.
