When Juwan was hired, Jalen said something on his show about how everything was forgiven between the Fab Five and the University. That seems to suggest that at least implicitly they weren’t welcomed back after the legal side of it died down.
Jimmy never left. Jalen never left. Ray never left. Juwan never left. Webber, of course, is a different matter, but, at least since Beilein arrived, they were welcomed back. Jalen, I believe, was speaking personally regarding his issue with the handling of the Fab 5 legacy.
Yeah, I think it is more that he felt the university saw the Fab Five as a kind of “shameful” part of its history which is why the banners stayed down. They weren’t really welcomed back to their rightful place in Michigan bball history.

Can’t find this verified anywhere else but if it’s true, congrats to Jaaron. Big step for him and a welcome loss to the Michigan staff
That’s just saying he’s coaching their TBT team, right? Does that qualify as a big step? Or a loss?
Ah missed the TBT aspect. Reading comprehension not my strong suit
Webber elected to Hall of Fame. After years of no Wolverines in the hall, we get 2 in 2 years.
About damn time for C-Webb…
Long overdue, considering college performance is part of the equation. He should’ve been in on the first ballot. But, politics…
Happy for him. He’s talked about how meaningful it would be.
I believe I saw Rudy Tomjonovich on this years list also.
Rudy was on the 2020 ballot. C Webb and Ben Wallace made the 2021 ballot alongside Chris Bosh, Paul Pierce and Toni Kukoc
As the kids say, this just hits different for us Michigan fans of a certain age.
I noticed that he did not even acknowledge Michigan or the Fab 5 going through the memory lane. Not that I blame him for it, as the HOF is about his pro career, but I sense there is some bitterness towards his time at Michigan.
That was one of the 2 for 2
He’s been a honorary captain at a football game. The UM stuff is straight from what I can tell. The beef was between him and Jalen. I’m way too old to care that it gets resolved, but here I am hoping that it gets resolved.
Fwiw, the HOF isn’t only about his pro career.
Webber accepted an olive branch that was extended to him. That doesn’t mean that his bitterness is gone. It just means that he wasn’t so bitter that he would turn down a chance to do something fun and receive some adulation from the fans. I wonder if he would have accepted a similar opportunity at a basketball game?
