Exhibition: Michigan at Wayne State Open Thread

Kind of sloppy at times, however, saw some really great stuff from Devante, Hunter, Eli, Moussa.

I feel like early on these past few years the team has started out sloppy but cleans it up after a handful of games, so not really too worried about it. A lot of nerves and this being the first time they have all played together.

Yeah, it was definitely a first game. Two things I’m not really concerned about but that really have to be cleaned up. 1. Way too many turnovers (sloppy), 17 against a DII team is something that can’t happen. 2. We gave up way too many offensive rebounds to Wayne State, and really WSU was outmanned by our guys on the frontline. Again, that really just can’t happen. But, certainly some coaching points and things to work on this week, and an easy win where everyone got some quality minutes!

I thought Brandon played pretty well, too, in addition to the four you mentioned. Caleb is gonna be fine and I think Kobe will be, too, perhaps just some first game jitters. Along with TWill, who will definitely be an important rotation guy, that’s a solid eight man rotation and we had two players in Zeb and Frankie who were out and they’re fighting for rotation minutes, too. On to the next one, the opener, and the real games begin! :blue_heart:

Moussa having a bigger impact than Caleb this season is certainly a hot take. Keep in mind that during the season Moussa is going to have a much shorter leash and Caleb is going to shoot it better.

I think they both are. Houstan is 10 on 247, Diabate is 16. Add Ivey, a couple Euros in Nzosa and Jokic and a breakout from 2 freshman, 2 sophomores and 2 junior/seniors and then subtract Bates (2023 draft) a couple freshman who struggle out of the gate a bit (likely guards) and an injury and you’ve got Houstan going in the late lottery (where shooters with NBA size but not all-star potential seem to go) and Diabate somewhere between 12-20 where the only other big projected to go in that area is Collins on Duke and some team wants a mobile center who plays hard (Raptors, OKC owns a pick there, Charlotte, Memphis has 2 picks, all those teams badly need a young starting center).

Johns definitely did NOT go 0-1 from 3

And did Moussa only get 3-4 blocks? Looked like 7-8 to me

Did Terrance make a 3?

Yes, he did hit a three.

Caleb’s made three should be Johns’ but I’m not sure who got Johns’ other miss. UPDATE: I looked at the box score and it just isn’t in there. No shot attempt at 16:12.

You don’t keep your own score sheet, Dylan?? (jk)

Ha, I keep something resembling play by play which I why I thought I was going crazy when I looked at the box at halftime.

I never knew this, but it’s AMAZING how all these guys are the exact same height! I’m guessing, though, that if JB were in the photo he’d be the same height, too!

and now there are no longer 313 comments in the thread

One of the in-stadium Detroit trivia questions was “what area code is Detroit synonymous with”? Tough question

Nope, easy: 8 Mile.
