Obvious Wayne State caveats apply. We still donā€™t know how Jones will fair against more athletic teams, etc etc.

But Iā€™ve been really impressed with Devante so far. Nice to see him hit a 3, but heā€™s been able to be aggressive with his help defense and stunts into passing Lanes without leaving his guy free.

I think the best thing I can say is that when the offense has been at its best tonight with the starters in, it hasnā€™t felt all that different from the offense we saw last year. Iā€™m not saying I expect to have the same offense this year, in terms of style or quality, but itā€™s nice to see that the same structure seems to be in place and is being operated at a high level.

Jones was #1 in win shares the last 2 years in his conference, which is ahead of Mike Smith (19th and 4th) in a significantly better conference. Iā€™m not surprised he looks like a solid starting Big 10 guard.
