European Soccer

There’s a draw I believe. 50-50 for each match up for paired seeds.

Oh yeah…that’s right. They want to do their stupid show.

The draw on Friday only determines the playoff matchups. There is another one in February for round of 16, quarterfinals, etc.

Inject Sporting-Benfica in the round of 16 directly into my veins.

As an Arsenal supporter, I’m rooting for the red team over the blue team this morning at Anfield before I switch course for the hardwood! Funny how that works sometimes

That Szoboszlai free kick was outrageous. Donnarumma didn’t even move. Also, that ending was comical. I just wish the goal stood. However, unbelievable City comeback and the title chase is still on.

The league’s last-place team getting 7 points from 3 games against top-5 teams is kind of wild

They’ve had a crazy underperformance of their expected points…like -14. I mean, they are still bad of course, but speaks to being really unlucky. That probably won’t comfort them in the Championship next year.

Oh dear

Arsenal with a 9 point lead on MCI, might as well get the trophy ready!

Three of the top five dropped points against all but relegated Wolves in the past two weeks. Pretty much the only enjoyable stretch of our season so far. Host Liverpool in the FA Cup this Friday for a spot in the quarterfinals

My first instinct was that we were getting rotated squads given our current state and the fact that Arsenal still had the Champions’ League to worry about, Villa is fighting for the final Champions League spot for next season, and Liverpool has BOTH those concerns. Liverpool definitely played their full side yesterday.

How did you come to follow Wolverhampton of all teams?

extremely stupidly!

I had not been into football at all really, but became really entranced during the 2018 world cup, and started watching EPL - that meant I had to choose a team.

I didn’t want to pick a big club because I felt like choosing Man City or Liverpool or something at that point was like rooting for the bank (I’m from New York, and chose the Mets over my dad’s Yankees after all). So I was watching the game that was on USA that day (I think it was Wolves v. Chelsea), and the Wolves had two dudes that just stood out to me - Raul Jimenez (pre facial fracture) was a ton of fun as a striker, a charming mix of quality and sh*t-housery (happy to see he’s come back to form for Fulham and for Mexico), and Adama Traore, who was terrible but was so hilariously jacked, I loved watching this Mr. Universe candidate running around trying to play soccer. Combine that with thinking the logo was awesome (it is!) and also Robert Plant loves them…I was sold.

I want to point out that just yesterday I saw an article than Nuno Espirito Santo (then the Wolves coach, now West Ham, where he manages Adama Traore) told the press that he told Traore he was no longer allowed to lift weights on club premises because he is too big.
