Ben, seriously, stop being such a whiner. Unreal.
You’re not going to get every single big time recruit. Booker went to UK. In case you haven’t noticed, they are pretty good at recruiting. Blackmon went to the hometown school (rejected UK too, by the way). Both guys signed at a time when no one had any idea Stauskas would be a two and done player. Blueitt - we cut him loose, not the other way around. Bates Diop? Yep, we certainly wanted him. He went to OSU - another school that’s pretty good at recruiting.
Chatman? He picked up over Arizona - another school that’s pretty good at recruiting.
Grandstaff? Those in the know have said he was always going to a Nike school, no matter what. So I wouldn’t worry about that one.
Here’s the bottom line - there is a lot of competition out there for top players, and we’re going to miss on more guys than we’ll sign, that’s always how it works. Not to mention we don’t pay players, or create a system of academic fraud so they don’t have to attend class.
Be thankful this staff has been so good at identifying and developing talent. By my count, only Louisville has won as many NCAA tourney games (8) as we have the past two years. By all accounts, we’re looking at a very strong 2016 class. In the meantime, we’ll have to “settle” for top 100 talents like Walton, Irvin, Wilson, and Donnal for now, along with a future NBA player in Caris. It’s rough, I know.
If you’ve been a fan of Michigan basketball for more than 10 minutes, well, I don’t get the consternation. We didn’t make the tourney for 10 years. Now it’s a tragedy when we don’t land a five star player? Get some perspective. Here’s a list of relative “no name” recruits this staff has turned into very good players: Burke, Hardaway, Morgan, Douglas, Novak, Robinson (top 120 player when he committed), Stauskas, Levert, Albrecht. I think we’ll be OK.
