Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

I like it but also it has a 0% chance of ever happening

You think so? I can imagine the needing to win late in the season thing not really going over well. Just doing the cut off at the All Star Break would give you most of the effect.

Just not nearly straight forward enough for owners to agree to.

There were rumors of lavine mpj trade and a bunch of nuggets fans were against it, thought it was dumb to be against at the time and it 100% was

This gives ā€œGold Planā€ vibes

Zach Lavine sucks though

I’m not a big Zach fan to say the least but man I dk. In the very least you net out like 40 IQ points.

Not sure what you mean?

Is there really a difference? There may be more focus on fitness training than there was (though Rodman was famous for working out right after a game)I don’t see anyone more explosive than Dr. J, Nique, Jordan, Drexler, Rodman, Pippen, Kemp, etc. or being quicker than Isiah, Tim Sr., KJ, Iverson, etc. And it’s not like KD, Dame, Cousins, and Tatum fit in that Freak Athlete category. I think @mgl’s theory above your post is more plausible.

KD and cousins are athletic specimens based on their size and their movement abilities, yes

I would def lean to overuse due to constant summer ball as my top reason tho. Shoes are pretty low on the list, I say that as someone that does not get the low top thing and had my worst sprained ankle ever after wearing low tops once

Players have been playing summer ball forever and there was a lot more play on outdoor courts.

I know that for a while people really hit hard on the grassroots circuit as leading to overuse.

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any noticeable shift now that EYBL (and most other major circuits) only play one game per day.

The volume isn’t anything close to what it was back 10-15 years ago.

They were not playing summer ball like this, with constant year round never ending season plus training

I would say yes, especially in how bodies are trained and maintained.

Not sure picking out random outliers in any direction is really the best way to make a case here.

Maybe it is just low tops. :man_shrugging:

I could’ve gone deeper but I opted for etc. instead. Who wants to hear about Brad Sellars? We’re also not touting the modern athleticism (or lack of) of THT, Caleb Houstan, Bobby Portis or Alex Len. We’re always going to bring up name players, regardless of the era.

In the past 25 years, the eastern conference has collectively had a winning record against the west TWICE
