Nico Harrison got good results because his process was sound.

Windy said Nico wanted Giannis for years so Cooper to Milwaukee if that were to happen?

Just my prediction but it’s funny how the reaction is going to turn into: why are the Knicks guarding like this?

The answer is they’re overmatched defensively and their best shot is to get 4 games of shooting variance tipping in their direction.

They’ve sunk guys into the lane all series knowing their two best offensive players would get put on an island and overmatched without help.

These three point attempts are wide open and have been all series. They’re packing the paint.

The Pacers are a good villain team this year. OKC beating them would be fine.

The median Knicks fan in this building’s happiest memory of being a Knicks fan is losing to Jordan. Completely cursed franchise.

The ā€˜94 NBA Finals L was the peak (of course during MJ’s brief hiatus from the NBA).

Of course the run to the finals as an 8-seed in the ā€˜99 shortened lockout season was something too, but they never really had a chance after they reached the finals

yeah FTR i don’t think you have to win a title to have a good time as a fan but they’ve just been gut punched or trying to free climb Everest sooooo many times.

Elite, elite shot making in this quarter.

this game rules. i dk what else you’d want from an NBA game. refs that know what a double dribble is i guess

Yea this is just unreal shotmaking from the Knicks right now. They’re at 7 mid range jump shots in the fourth, all off balance. Tip your cap

The Knicks definitely have more tough shot makers than the Celtics and it favors them late in games.

Oh man, that looks like a pretty serious injury for Tatum.

It’s all over for the Celtics now.

jeez just a ridic jinx. every NBA fan said ā€œthis game rulesā€ at the same time so ofc Tatum gets hurt bad

oh no that looks like an Achilles

We all somewhat in agreement that Achilles tears are more prevalent than they once were? Particularly on the star players who have the most stress on their bodies.

There’s data that supports it as well. It’s been an 82 game season for a long time so it’s hard to make too many bold claims. I will just say this and I think I’ll always stand on it- I don’t think any actual NBA fans were ever that upset about load management.

To love the NBA is to know all 82 games can’t be perfect theatre. Any of us would trade throwaway games in January to not see 3-4 marquee guys tear an Achilles every year.

I’m coping but I also stand by this. Such a fabricated, BS issue that the league capitulated on.

I don’t have any opinion really, more curious what the data is. It does seem more common in the last 10 years but I wonder if that’s just bc I pay very different attention to this stuff.

I do wonder if the playoffs are especially likely to cause injury now bc the difference in regular season vs playoff intensity seems much higher and the minutes per game also go way up?

I only really have baseball for reference but everybody knows that there’s a relationship between pitches thrown and injury likelihood. I think it’s less appreciated that injury likelihood goes up especially when you’re both fatigued and have to expend max effort.

Like, you only have so many 100% effort pitches, a few more 95%, a lot more 90%, etc and if you get caught having spent your 100% effort pitches and you find yourself reaching back anyway, risk goes way up.

Old LeBron I think has a really strong sense for this and you can see him kind of dosing out his effort over the course of a game and a series. But I wonder how good most NBA players are at this, especially in the playoffs. Seems plausible they don’t really rep this skill in the regular season at anywhere near the same intensities.

I wonder if this is one of the few upsides of the I Literally Never Come Out era. Think you might just get way more stress testing.

I mean I think I’m pretty clearly said ā€œgetting the highest lottery odds and then winning isn’t lucky like what the spurs did in 1997ā€

Thisnis basically what the Spurs did so yeah total luck

But man great game tonight with an awful ending

I’m not a Tatum guy and definitely not a Boston guy but that sucks

The Spurs also had the 4th worst record in '87 and got David Robinson. 3 generational bigs isn’t too shabby a return for a team that’s hardly ever in the lottery.

I do wonder whether they try to deal the #2 pick since they just traded for Fox.

Yeah, Fox + Castle may make Harper not as appealing to them as he will be to other teams. Maybe they’ll put together a trade package to get one more guy to make a Big 3 with Wemby and Fox.
