Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Doncic reminds me a little of Charles Barkley: a very rare talent who doesn’t push himself to be his best.

No, it’s going to be Josh Bartlestein

In the release it said Gregory would report to Ishbia so not sure what CEO Bartlestein would have in a say over things.

Every bit of reporting says that he was the heart of the Beal and Nurkic signing, and that James Jones has basically spent the past 18 months in an office without an internet connection and a Playskool telephone as Bartelstein assumed his responsbilities

Here’s Josh discussing his role in those moves:

This article from Woj:

discusses Bartelstein as Joe Cronin’s primary point of contact (he is mentioned 11 times in this article, James Jones is mentioned once) in the Ayton deal.

I think it’s fair to say Bartelstein has been their primary basketball executive for nearly 2 years.

Pistons are not locked in at all.

One of my least favorite plays is guys higher in the usage pecking order picking up their dribble late in the clock and forcing somebody worse to bail them out with a heave

The physicality they’re allowing in this series is pretty ridiculous. Players are genuinely confused what they’re allowed to do, too. Not good.

I think Tobias is still basically a good player but he does so much stuff that drives me crazy. Didn’t go to the corner on that break so instead of an open corner 3, Hardaway forced up a weird lefty leaner.

Tobias is fine

He’s fine

Just not making enough shots tonight from most of the team. Need a strong finish. Could use some threes to fall.

An unfortunate and terrible performance for Hardaway tonight in his likely last game as a Piston.

First game where we’ve been been clearly outplayed.

Every mistake we’ve made, they’ve punished. And the shooting just abysmal

They just need more guys who can offense

Duren gives you so much to dream on if he could just become a more imposing defender. It’s funny that he’s so mechanical on D when he’s instinctive and high feel on O.

I feel like he’s been decent on defense. Not good, but not as bad as his reputation. But I don’t follow him closely.

Yeah they’re just always waiting on Cade to go for 30 and his jump shot just isn’t that yet.

Think I underestimated what a long developmental runway he has bc he will just keep getting better as a shooter tho. I was so convinced he’d come in immediately as a high level shooter.

I think he’s OK, not bad. But you can see him kinda thinking out loud on that end where he’s just super fluid and able to make the extra pass or the subtle move on O.

Without a second playmaker he also has to shoulder so.muxh to get his own shot too. Could see some shooting improvement just having someone else disrupt the defense now and then.

Yeah, he’s been better on offense than I expected. Smooth, strong, etc.

I also love watching Ausar defend. So quick. He fouls a lot, but he’s making life miserable for people.
