Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Jesus, Hart fouled Hardaway twice. Once on the body, then a second time slapping his elbow/forearm.

this series has been absolutely devastating for my ā€œit was all James Edwards III’s faultā€ take

I still can’t process how that game was stolen from us like that. Absolutely awful.

Wally Szczerbiak and Bill Pidto on the Knicks postgame both agree it was a foul.

Glad they got the chance to review the play post game and let us know the correct call

Wow…at least they admitted it. I wasn’t expecting it. Tough that they blew their challenge early and that you still only get one in the playoffs. I don’t want college replay since it is insufferable…I would like to get calls right.

As for my Stephen A. question earlier - I guess if you treat it as theater and don’t take it too seriously it is probably entertaining at times. I think it is just hard that in this era of our civilization so much of the media available for consumption is about shock value, clicks, extreme takes, or ideology … which in itself is fine, but when it is presented as news or facts rather than spin or entertainment it is dangerous.

Normally I just ignore and avoid SAS, but when his Knick loving shouting is on my TV right after a devastating Pistons home stand it sucks.

IMO, the Pistons do an exceptionally bad job at handling their challenges. From my perspective, you should only take a challenge if it is clear and obvious or is a game-changing end of game play.

And you can basically guarantee that at some point the refs will screw up something clear and obvious near the end of the game so you’ll get to use your challenge

Yeah you have to factor the change in win percentage in your challenge.

If there’s potential to swing a couple points or keep someone out of foul trouble, that’s when you use it.

I think the key thing that changes how you should manage challenges is that unlike football, the value of each play you could challenge is often about the same. In football, you need to consider how valuable the play was combined with likelihood of overturn. In basketball, most plays you would ever consider challenging are gonna be worth 1-2 points at most? So, you should be optimizing to get that second challenge and get two chances to swing that small amount of value.

FWIW, my view of SAS changed quite a bit when he shot down the idea of running for president as ridiculous. I didn’t expect that level of self awareness.

Bad news for you on that. He is like 80% running. He is appearing on as many Dem-friendly media outlets as he can after only doing Hannity for years until now.

Can’t believe they didn’t call that Luka flop, good for them.

Also I think I hate Austin Reaves.

Lakers went with all 5 players 2nd half. No substitutions

Jaden McDaniels having a monstrous series

He’s frequently the tallest guy in the floor

Also, Randle has constantly been discussed over and under rated at various junctures

I’m here to say he’s just good?

The one thing he’s definitely good at (downhill bully ball drives) is one of the several things LA has no answer for defensively.

It’s nearly impossible to win any series when you play multiple cones at the same time along with no rim protection.

Edit- I shouldn’t say the one thing he’s good at lol he’s been so maligned that he’s probably now under appreciated. I was trying to say it’s what he’s known for.

I don’t think he’s the easiest guy to find the optimal role for but he’s got strengths, without a doubt.

Holy smokes the pistons game was incredible. Amazing shotmaking from Knicks … Pistons really had no answers on Defense (not sure who would) … holy mother of god Pistons got screwed on the (underserved but obvious) fouls on last shot. Pistons totally spiritually lost that game and yet … they got boned.

Sorry. DVR. I’m sure this is covered above. Holy Shiitake… what a game but jeebus what a bs way to lose the series.

Franz being hopeless from 3 is so tough but it’s even worse that he’s pretending it’s not true

Frustrating to watch. And just reminds me of the missed 3 that ended Michigan’s run.

I’m such a Franz fan, I wish he could improve from range.

He is devolving from range

21.2% on massive volume
