Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

His momentum? He clearly turned, no? I was at the game so only saw it clearly on the replay video screen.

Feel like it got balanced by the refs deciding to give the Pistons a shot on the final possession for no very good reason

Looked to me like he never established in the front court, I don’t know if momentum is the right term, but felt like it wasn’t over and back?

I’m worried that Stew won’t be back for Saturday’s game either. B-Ball Paul stepped up the best be can and he’s been a positive but he’s not fully replacing what Isaiah is able to give (when healthy).
I think the injury must be bad, or he would’ve played last night.

Already being without Ivey hurts but they’ve had months to adjust to life without him. Missing our best defensive big, especially against a team who’s playing two 7-footers together at times is really unfortunate.

Yeah I mean this will never be called a back-court

for there to be a jump ball, two players have to have possession simultaneously. The technical term for what you are referring to is a “givebrunson ball”

This is my issue that he used the term “momentum.” Is every team going to do that at the end of a game now? Pretty easy to duplicate just touch the ball maintain some type of control but allow your momentum take you to the back court.

Dude even if he just catches it straight that’s not back court

Yeah, it looked like Duren had the ball but the refs gave a very quick whistle.

What about Sunday’s game? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What did you want the refs to do after the clock error? Just end the game even though the buzzer sounded before anyone even touched the ball? I mean it was a crazy sequence and the Knicks got screwed by the clock guy, but the refs didn’t “decide” to give the Pistons the ball for no reason. That was the only thing you could do after what happened. Pistons were very obviously getting the rebound after the missed FT. Get mad at the clock operator, not the refs

ok

how’s this

the people administering the game, due to their error, gave the Pistons an unearned shot to win where, had they performed their duty (starting the clock when someone touches the ball), they would not have had one. This balances, to me, the non-backcourt violation that has everyone (not here as much) rolling out the “NBA HATES SMALL MARKETS” talking points this morning.

Holland still a next year or two away but you could see it last night I thought. Athlete, plays hard, shot doesn’t look broke. I think decent chance he’s the best pick of that draft.

Having a special carve-out for over and back during the last 2 minutes is the most puzzling part of it for me

Yeah it is weird enough that I actually googled the rule book (it’s there as the guy describes)

I love Holland but my heart can’t take his playoff minutes. I was screaming at him the way y’all screamed at Gayle, Donaldson, Cason when they did something crazy.

He was pretty unequivocably good last night I think

I have more confidence in Holland’s shot than Ausar, but he’s a rookie and gaining valuable experience this season playing for a playoff team. It’ll pay off down the road.

It’ll be interesting to see what Langdon will do in a couple of seasons. I think he’ll keep the core intact to see if they’ll make the next step, but he might have to go for a big swing to get an another star next to Cade. At least, the Pistons won’t be handcuffed with the Wolves’ FRP since it’s being conveyed for this year draft.

At some point, they’re likely going to need to make a consolidation trade where they deal some of these younger toolsy guys and some picks for a big dog, may do it as soon as this off-season. I don’t think you can just fart and give these guys all their rookie extensions and think you’re more than a mid-tier playoff team in the future…I think it’s getting pretty clear the offense needs another Dude.
