Sources: 76ers, Joel Embiid exploring options for knee injury - ESPN Yeah they really should shut down Embiid for the season. 20 wins and it’s late February. Take the L, get healed up, prepare for next season

Cade is a top 15 player in the league.

They should but it may be too late for them to save their draft pick. It’s set to go to OKC if Philly doesn’t land in the top-6. They’re right in that 6th worst spot, so they’d need the lottery to hold or really swan-dive to improve their chances of keeping it. As things stand right now, it looks like Toronto is the only real threat to pass them in wins.

I’d say that the Nets, Bulls and Spurs are the threats to outtank the 76ers.

The Bulls will not tank intentionally and Jordy Fernandez seems to keep winning 40% of their games even while the front office trades everyone that can dribble

The Spurs are going to be gross through season end for sure though

I have no idea how to slice these by date (obviously the last 2ish months they’ve been better than this), but:

Pistons are 15th in net rating (+0.8)
14th in offense
12 in defense

4 factors (offense):

14 in eFG%
24th in TO%
8th in OReb%
23rd in FTR

4 factors (defense):

19th in eFG% allowed
11th in TO% forced
3rd in DREB%
24th in FTR

Rebounding is really what jumps - so big props to Duren, Stewart, and more recently Ausar Thompson (Paul Reed actually rebounds quite well in his limited tick)

Definitely will be gross. But they’ll inevitably get lottery luck again and have a lineup including Fox, Flagg, and Wemby next year.

Maybe 2 top 3 picks Flagg and Harper…

I did one spin on Tankathon …

This is the NBA way…

This is the first year where I didn’t bother worry about the draft for the Pistons and it’s a nice feeling. FRP will be conveyed to the Wolves. So nice being a fan of an ascending team.

When will the NBA start taking draft medicals seriously? The NFL are super cautious when it comes to medicals and NBA just don’t seem to care. Apparently, Joel’s knee was a ticking time bomb.

With Lonzo’s knee issues, Joel’s knee issues, Klaw’s knee issues, etc., will we see NBA teams take medicals seriously that would push down the prospect’s draft grade? Apparently, it did for Whitmore a few years ago, but that’s TBD.

If Cade has anything resembling Embiid’s career the Pistons should count themselves very lucky.

I mean even if you were going to take Embiid’s medicals into account (or Leonard’s) you wouldn’t draft him any lower based on the outcome. If they have knee issues at 30 after winning an MVP then that’s just a bummer, not an indication of needing to take medicals more seriously

If we’re talking how Embiid’s teams did, I’d be very disappointed to never see Cade make it out of the 2nd round.

We’re talking about draft slot expectation.

If Cade Cunningham spends five years in the top 3 of MVP voting that would be a pretty phenomenal outcome, is what Colin is saying
