Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

This one feels ominous

This is on net bad money. The kind of thing you attach with a pick or two to get back an OK player on a big deal.

you shut your dang mouth

I’d say this feels like moral hazard but the Reinsdorfs don’t really set any standard for their employees to meet, so its hard to have moral hazard in those situations

Getting Kenyon Martin’s son (at least for the moment) reminded me of this:

I actually just read that if the Bucks hadn’t gotten out of the apron this year, their 2032 pick would have been frozen. So for a team that will likely be horrible then, that probably matters?

Also, with Durant rejecting the Warriors, it feels like the music is about to stop for them and there aren’t really any chairs left for them (or is that Nikola Vucevic’s music???)

I dk, I guess I’m kind of coming around on it. It’s basically an admission that this era is over and it’s just a matter of moving on from Giannis now or, whatever, next trade deadline when Whoever + 1 pick + 1 swap doesn’t get them anything useful this summer.

Sabonis and JV starting team Lithuania

The GSW is cooked. They’re focusing on Butler, but I don’t think it’s happening.

Trying to hold onto Podz is among their big mistake because they overvalued the young players and it’s coming back to bite them in the butt.

I feel like the thing nba teams struggle the most with is to properly value young players, a lot of teams way over value young guys.

It’s the same with fans.

The Pistons fans wanted Coby White or Collin Sexton, but the idea of trading away Ron Holland or Ausar Thompson repulses the fans and they don’t think White/Sexton is worth giving away either of them. :person_shrugging:

I remember when nuggets fans and front office were devastated giving up rj Hampton for Aaron Gordon

If the Pistons can package KJ Martin with the cap space, DAngelo Russell is the easiest player to get that fills the most glaring need.

Uhhhhhh……???

I understand acquiring 2nd round picks by why take on those guys?

They’re over the roster limit so more moves have to be coming, right?

Cuts at the absolute least

To get the 2nd rounder for renting their cap space

Yup, either cut both or aggregate salaries in a trade.

Think you guys are both wrong. Fans have very little appreciation for how much better very young players can get and are also way too forgiving of how bad they are when very young.

Teams I think are systematically underrating year 3 and 4 guys that are average-ish and I think they get handed out for older not much better guys all the time.

Like, at no time previous have the Warriors had an opportunity to add anybody that would change their destiny. They needed a legit top 5-10 player to have a great shot at making the conference finals. Makes way more sense to wait for that guy or let the young guys improve and slowly take over as Steph and Draymond age out.

Jimmy’s a weirdo but he loves to win and play hard if you treat him well.
