Give me Lonzo for a 2nd round pick!

I’d rather they get someone that can provide rim pressure. Ball can’t do that. Wonder if the Cavs will want to get under the luxury tax. If so, I’d take Levert off their hands.

Wait why would the best team in the NBA salary dump their 6th man

Complicated cap and apron issues that need a room full of math geniuses to explain, but apparently the Cavs may have to sign Donovan Mitchell to an extension agreement at some future point that will average $65M annually and cause Gilbert to raise Rocket Mortgage interest rates to usury levels to pay the expected cap penalties.

Yeah, the luxury tax “repeat offender” thing.

Me and my big fat mouth :man_facepalming:

As the piston are shopping for bulls guards, what about the immaculate contract of Coby White

I was listening to a Pistons podcast the other day (after finishing the UMHoops one, of course), and they were saying they’d rather have Coby White than Lonzo, if both were available.

Definitely a better player and way less health concern, would need to give up some asset of value though. Ball would basically be “oh, you’ll pay his salary?”

Who is better between White and Sexton?

They’re pretty close

Assume you’d want the guy who is 3 years younger and $6m cheaper.

Yeah, you’ll give up less for Ball than with White. For Ball, it’ll be a 2nd + Tek. For White, it’ll be a young player plus probably a couple of 2nd round pick. For the Pistons in terms of trade value, Ball would be cheaper and is on an expiring contract. The Pistons have the cap space to take on Ball’s contract in the short term.

I honestly think the Bulls would be happy to just unload ball for a second rounder or two and just save money, as they’re absurdly cheap

For White or Sexton you’re talking trading Holland or Thompson probably

Yeah, exactly. I think the Pistons would prefer to keep both Holland and Ausar and see what they can do with a full-offseason. Ausar never had a proper off-season because he wasn’t cleared by the NBA due to blood clot. That’s why Zo makes a lot of sense because they won’t need to give up too much without trading away their core. It’s a short term commitment to see if Zo can help out this season.

Ausar was great last night, except for him fumbling a breakaway dunk late in the game after getting a steal from Trae. I still love that dude.

I think since the Pistons aren’t the over the apron team, they are required to take back salary so the only way it makes sense for the Pistons is Tek+2nd for Zo.

Last night, I watched some of the Grizzlies/Spurs game, and as I watched JJJ be the best player on the floor and drop in more than a few two over Victor (he had to work - 31 points on 21 shots, but this was sitll one of the better games anyone’s had on Victor) I had a fun time reminding myself “oh yeah, Tom benched him for Ben Carter.”

Not a Lakers fan, but they should go get Moussa. I am sure they desire a star, but I think he’d fit well with their current deal and wouldn’t cost a lot.

Of course they do but that’s the point. Plus Pairing him with Lebron. This is huge for the NBA . Tons of eyes and interest on the flagship franchise when things are apparently trending down interest wise for the league.

Something is just off there on a few fronts.

If NBA can make it accessible for all fans, it would help the viewership. It’s not available for your team and the main channel is FanDuel (formerly known as Bally Sports, FSN, etc.) and they’re not on cable or live tv streaming service. Then they don’t get televised on national TV on a regular basis. Also, there’s archaic blackout rule that they’re missing out the new generation of fans that would watch the NBA. Instead, they get snippets of highlights on social media whether if it’s on Twitter, IG or TikTok.

That and bad refs are the two main culprit (I would also argue a lot of unnecessary ad break did not help either). The level of play has never been better IMO.
