Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

They weren’t able to give Bruce close to what he got from Indiana, so tough to fault them on that one. Losing Pope is bad for sure but also he looks kinda washed to start this year in Orlando. That contract could get ugly for the next two years but no doubt Denver should have paid up around Jokic just to keep the starting 5 intact and take the pressure off Braun and Strawther. There’s a ton of mistakes on the margins too that hurt - the Zeke Nnaji contract causing financial restraints, using a first to salary dump Jamychal Green, Dario Saric looks like an absolutely awful decision so far. Even letting Jay Huff walk out of the organization looks terrible now.

I think the elephant in the room is Malone’s voice getting stale there. Hes an awesome coach but those guys just look tired of the constant rage timeouts and demand of intensity

yep core issue is the nugs have been way to loyal to their own guys and not played enough hardball and been willing to trade when values were high

I mean, Lakers and Wiz both had Huff and played him a total of 11 games. He’s just one of those guys.

Saric and Westbrook were horrendous decisions. Basically every decision they’ve made on the margins after the Gordon trade has been horrible

Have only seen a couple highlights but jeez Murray looks flat out of shape? No burst at all.

conditioning has been a major issue for him forever, definitely not a dude who takes his body/conditioning super seriously

that’s really scary considering everything else. seems like we could be talking about Denver blowing this up soon-ish even if ownership won’t do it? or heck they’re cheap maybe that’s appealing?

Let the winning streak begin!!!

If it weren’t Philly, I would’ve been shocked that the fans booed NBA Nice Guy, Tobias Harris. Well, he dropped 18 & 15 on them.

Beef outplayed Duren by a significant margin, especially on defense. Duren is so bad on defense. Langdon’s first priority this season and/or off-season is finding a defensive center to protect the rim.

Duren got in foul trouble early and was done at the beginning of the 4th. Stew did have a great game, though.

Stewart been playing the 5 then?

Yes, has been this season. No more 2 bigs lineup.

THJ’s 4th quarter threes tonight were key in stifling Sixers comeback attempt.

Facts! TIMMAY is 16-30 from 3 on the season. 53%!

Stewart dominated that game defensively. To the point where he was talking smack to Maxey who had trouble scoring on him on switches. Altered over a dozen shots at the rim.

Still haven’t figured out how to use him offensively though. He’s only shot 1 three in five games.

I’m thinking that may be by design. Even the 3 he took, he hesitated.

Speaking of 3’s, this is encouraging:

Of the players who have attempted 5 or more 3’s a game, we’ve got:

Beasley: 14 for 37 = .378
Cade: 14 for 35 = .400
Ivey: 12 for 28 = .429
THJ: 16 for 30 = .533

I don’t know about the other guys, but last night, one of Ivey’s misses was a 60-foot heave right before halftime.

Re the Ivey half court shot, I think @eric_shap said on a recent podcast that the halftime heave won’t count as a shot attempt (unless it goes in, presumably), but cc’ing for confirmation.

That was me, and it was a college thing, you’ll probably never hear me say anything about the NBA

On BR and the NBA deep stats tools they break out “heaves” on their shooting stats but it counts on the totals

Yeah, it is college scorekeepers who often won’t log them FWIW.
