Edey stretch 5 season incoming. Better version of Al Horford
Erase âcloseâ and youâre there!
Dwayne Wade had his statue unveiledâŚ
How do you screw that up like that and still roll it out?
They should just hire the sculptor who did the head bust from the NFL HoF. Team needs to quit cheap out on it.
Another game, another bad 4th quarter.
90 seconds into the 3rd, Cade was 7 for 7 with 1 turnover. He went 2-11 with 4 turnovers the rest of the way. TIMMAY carried us in the 3rd, helping erase a 11-point Heat lead at halftime to go into the 4th up 1. I think our biggest lead in the 3rd was 4 points.
We started the 4th with 4 fouls, 2 turnovers, a few missed shots, and Cade missed a FT on a defensive 3-seconds call, while Miami shot well. We were back down 11 before 2 minutes had passed. We got it back down to 3 at one point, but no closer.
If you told me that the Pistons were once again trying to tank for a top pick I would totally believe you based on how these fourth quarters have gone all season so far. Really, really bad. I get that the first three quarters donât matter as much in the NBA since the teams are mostly sparring before the fight begins in the fourth, so mediocre Teams like the Pistons are usually going to struggle, but this is ridiculous
Iâm seeing a lot of players missing open 3s in the 4th quarter. Ivey was the only one who did something shooting wise but he was meh in the first 3 quarters.
When the schedule came out, it looked like an 0-6 start was very probable. Itâs only that a couple of the games looked winnable in the 4th that makes things a little disappointing.
Could not close it out against the Celtics and Pacers. Competitive with the Cavs and Heat for the most part. They need to figure out the 4th quarter woes.
I think â4th Quarterâ is a canard to be honest.
Theyâre 27th in net rating, theyâre arenât good, itâs not a timing thing. As Dylan has said ad nauseum, the way to avoid losing close games is not to play them. The Celtics have won like 34% of their âclose gamesâ the past 3 years and have had the best record in the NBA in that span.
27th in net rating
21st in offense ppp
18th in eFG% (slightly below average)
26th in turnover %
10th in Oreb% (the best thing they do)
23rd in foul rate
25th in defense ppp
24th in eFG% allowed
24th in turnover % forced
6th in defensive rebounding
18th in foul rate
I think discussing improving any of these things is much more on point than â4th quartersâ. Why are they horrific at turning the ball over year after year? Why are they (for like the billionth time in a row) in a dead heat for last place in 3 point attempt rate allowed?
They are at least for now clearly not one of the two worst teams (Jazz and Wiz impressive there), they are clearly better than last year because they probably wonât do things like âplay the worst PG in the NBA 1000 minutesâ or âplay the worst center in the NBA 1100 minutesâ.
The next group, ranging form the Raptors to Nuggets (including the Pistons, so ranging 23rd to 28th in net rating) are pretty close. Obviously the Nuggets position here speaks to noise in such a small sample (but theyâre playing bad)
I donât think fourth quarter is really even about close games. We are literally talking about a quarter of the game.
I think people just underestimate that the better team eventually pulls away as more possessions in a game are played. Just like Michigan didnât have a second half problem this last year, it just wasnât good enough to win 70 possessions against anyone.
Oh wow deeply surprising stuff here. Guy who is always injured was in fact injured.

Wait so theyâre are getting fined for being coy that a definitely injured guy may play
We canât mislead Vegas!
Yeah I donât really track what exactly happened there. Seems really really dumb tho.

Nugs are a disaster outside jokic so jokic could have a goat season if he doesnât break down from the load heâs carrying
The MPJ deal and the Murray extension both looking like yikesers (MPJ deal has been for years, admittedly)
thereâs also only so much you can do, you have to pay guys to keep them and canât necessarily just replace them with equal players. Their issue isnât spending too much but the cheapening out theyâve done on bench guys like KCP, and now Murray (at least partially due to injuries) is just not good enough
$50 mil/year for Murray isnât cheaping out?
I also just think that teams are way too willing to max out their own rookies (love Franz, but would put him here as well along with many other guys) - they gave Porter a max deal off 1 missed year, one âwhateverâ year, then what turned out to be, likely, the best season of his careerâŚto watch him miss 72 games and never be the same the year the deal kicked in! Just take him to RFA, he literally canât sign for more anyway!
I wasnât talking about Murray. They let Bruce Brown and KCP go and replaced them with nothing
