8 years AAV is not much but 4 years is a lot of guaranteed years. It’s basically making him a 2024 first round pick, which anytime you have are as cap strapped as the lakers a rookie contract is potentially very valuable

So let me figure this out… PG13 almost was a Warrior. GS Warriors release CP3. They traded Poole to get Paul. They are left with fewer assets and Thompson is leaving. So they’re big 2 is now Steph and Draymond??? They’re still going to trade Wiggins as well. This is hard to figure out.
Max will also have to fight for PT with Bronny…

From reading George deal came close. They were offering combos of Wiggins Kuminga Moody and Paul and a 1st. You can take a young guy but you would need to take on one of those contracts as well. That seems terrible. Still like Wiggins but he would kind of block either Kuminga or Moody.
whiffed on quite a few high first rounders once they entered their title window - wiseman, kuminga, moody… at least poole contributed to a championship
The wiseman pick was especially egregious. Shows why picking for need that high usually is wrong. I still like Moody but he’s just never really gotten a shot.

Melo may be a clown but that franchise wasn’t going to stop him from being one
Melo would have at least been a good trade chip if it didn’t quite work out for wise. But they def could use some sort of creation at the moment
