Lyles delivers minimal contributions.

Interestingly, he and Kelly Olynyk had the highest +/- on that team.

Not saying he was the best player, but I think the things he can do (shoot) are in desperately spare supply anywhere else on the roster (ditto Kelly, who I think is an actually good offensive player).

I’ll just say that Lyles just carried 18 mins a game of pretty good hoops for a good team this year.

Interesting.

I’m a results now guy. It’s time to stop tanking and start getting better. Guys like Lyles aren’t a huge difference in terms of wins and losses, but they are guys who can play a role and put more on the table than they take off it. Guys that can contribute to winning, even if at a minor level. He’s not an everything bagel but you need a few in the bag with just poppy seeds or sesame seeds. And you don’t need any of the frickin blueberry whole wheat quinoa bagels in the dern bag. You take your two or three everything bagels and you surround them with a few poppy, a few sesasme, a few onion.

Yeah, I mean, I’m just saying he’s a guy who is a UFA who won’t cost much who can play 15 minutes of decent hoops at position where the other options are a tumbleweed and a cardboard cutout of a 4. I’d much rather see them go after Grant Williams (who I’m slowly deciding is my Ultimate Signing for them)

Stew
Williams
Bojan (TRADE HIM)
Ivey
Cade

Hayes (barf), Duren, Livers and uh…Burks? Is he still here? (edit: he is! pick up that option!)

I agree generally with what you’re saying, though I am specifically out on Grant Williams. Yuck. (Also willing to acknowledge this is probably an emotional response driven by being a non-Celtics fan living in Boston.)

I’m in on Grant Williams.

Still yuck.

I don’t follow the contract/age angle of a lot of these guys. Is there a reason we actually don’t want Bojan on the roster? Isn’t he an asset to our younger guys?

I guess I just don’t know what you trade him for at this juncture…hoping you can give some clarity as of now (not what we should have done at the deadline).

He’d start on two of the conference finalists and 6 of the 8 semi finalists

There is a market for him

I agree there is a market, because I think he’s a very good player. But what is that market? What is the ideal return? I’m genuinely asking your opinion (which I value) as right now he seems like an ideal piece around the young guys we have :man_shrugging:

A good first round pick? 2 iffy ones?

Yeah, that’s what I’d guess as well - and I personally would rather just have his archetype on the floor as Cade and Ivey grow. Maybe that means we get peanuts if things are still rough a year or 18 months from now, but I’d take that chance to try and get a few more wins with legit NBA scorers alongside them.

You could package Bojan and the 31st pick to move into the early 20s. There are a few teams in that range that are in win now mode.

He’s a really efficient 21 point a game scorer who doesn’t need the ball in his hands and can play respectable D at the 4 (not the 3)

The Heat, Suns, Mavs, Sixers, Warriors would murder for him

He’s like a good Harrison Barnes

Trading Bojan to get an extra pick this year would be a nice bit of business. Also that depth is soooo thin and a really good reason they’ll almost certainly be bad even if Cade and Ivey show a lot of promise. People always forget just how many minutes there are in a regular season.

I think my preferred means of ā€œsolvingā€ that is tracking down some actual lottery tickets (aka Not Wiseman) who will play hard and get up 3’s. They def need Burks to just keep the engine going when Cade isn’t in.

Also kinda like the idea of them trying to take Poole off GSW’s hands. People will prob hate this but see above re: regular season minutes. Not sure they can really make that attractive to the Dubs, who could use Poole but maybe don’t have the tax bill freedom and locker room situation to keep him.

If the goal is making the playoffs, Jordan helps. I think he’d be pissed to be a bench guy

NO POOLE. Please.

I think you could just start all 3 and staggered minutes + regular season bumps and bruises will get where you need to go. It’s hardly a perfect fit, but it’s a team that doesn’t have anywhere near as many answers as it needs and Poole could be one.

Plus cmon who doesn’t want to see JP torture Beilein for the rest of his career.

Jordan the Unrepentant. First of his name. Terrible idea. Aren’t you a Bulls fan? You take him.
