Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Yes I am aware thank u

For the worst team to get the fifth pick is just nuts.

The original NBA lottery system was fine: one random draw, and then everyone picks in order of record. I don’t know why they needed to change that.

Pistons haven’t won a playoff game (not series) since 2008 and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. Whoever they get at 5 won’t move the needle. Pistons will likely be a top 3 worst team again

I hope Weaver starts to figure out how to build this roster to support the young core and doesn’t decide he needs to go get a star or something.

I definitely don’t know why the changed the lottery from 3 to 4 teams. Feels like they went too far with their desire to prevent tanking. In doing so, they will ensure that bad teams stay bad when they fall out of the top 4.

Trade down just move the pick. Whoever they get at 5 will take years to develop or will bust anyways.

They got Ivey at 5.

If it doesn’t move the needle someone should be fired

Completely disagree with your take.

And they were a worse team. Almost the worst in franchise history. They will still be awful next year not as bad as 60+ losses but 55 or so imo.

I mean it’s not the lottery’s fault they didn’t pick the best player

I mean it may be true, but if it is that says more about the front office than anything else

Yeah, with tied for the best odds. Pistons have never moved up with their own pick IIRC. Red wings have been screwed in the lotto the last 8 years or whatever as well.

You should be fired. There aren’t always 5+ difference makers in a draft class.

They want to discourage tanking but the flat lottery odds encouraged more tanking among fringe playoff teams. They made it worse lmao

Gotta find one. Find a good player.

You should be fired jerry.

My point wasn’t about the pick. My point was that was a year where it would have been fine to not have lottery luck and get one of those players later. There are absolutely some years where it is more advantageous than others to have a top pick when the dropoff is bigger
